I've been to see the statue of him in Peoria, Illinois. It's located in a somewhat out-of-the-way spot, but appears to be well cared for. It's in a park -- Alfresco Park I think -- at the bottom of a hill where a scenic road called "Grandview Drive" meets Illinois Route 29.

Just kidding about the keychain.

what amazes me is how really popular Ingersoll was in his lifetime. Very respected, a frequent lecturer. quite the admired intellectual. Since the Evangelical tsunami, he's disappeared. He'd probably be roundly despised today.

My atheism is a result of a lot of reading and study, but his words probably more than any others really shifted my perception.
