Full Hunter Moon Alert: Tonight and tomorrow night we will be treated
to the Full Hunter Moon, the first Full Moon of Autumn 2021. The Full Moon is actually occurs at 10:57 am (EST) on Wednesday morning, so tonight and Wednesday night the Moon will be equally full. The Moon rises in Harrisonburg tonight at 6:23 pm and Wednesday evening at 6:47 pm, start looking soon after. The Hunter Moon when low in the sky can be the 'orangiest' Full Moon of the year because of the leaves outgassing as they change color. The Full Moon in October follows a low path across the sky since the plane of the Solar System (the ecliptic plane) is low in the evening sky in October. The Hunter Moon shines into the windows all night long. It is called the Hunter Moon because it signaled the time to go hunting in preparation for the cold winter ahead. This is going to be a pretty sight!
