(9,791 posts)You're overexposing the highlights. If you can figure out a way to lower the exposure (with digital you get instant check) try that. If the manual is a pain (you bet) I can maybe help. Just tell me what mode you were in, i.e. auto or whatever. ) and what model. Glad to help get the best results.

I suspect that you were on "auto", which is fine, and also that you don't want to fuss with controls!
So, try this if you are getting highlights that are too high.
There's the multi-purpose dial.

(130,895 posts)Not much gonna happen today, surely no moon shots, but did get magnolias thru bedroom window; check 'gardening' group.
Illustrative pics not opening here now, so will check later. THANKS!
No tripods, ever; could never set them up, as my shots are on impulse! ALL hand-held.

Try the simple idea I proposed.
Love flowers. Mine kind of ran out because we have no rain in summer.
Enjoy the heck out of them.
If you can rest the camera on a beanbag on something -- a table, porch rail, whatever, it might help.
Monopod? It's like a cane. Doubles as one (I live on a ridge, it's steep out there).
Wishing you the best results!
