I saw an Instagram amp ost from a fellow showing video of Joshua Tree in full winter wonderland mode with snow so the ground. JT is just east of the San Gabriels. Gonna be a great wildflower year all over the Desert Southwest

would see snow on mt baldy and the san gabrials when i was a child living in glendora ca. 1960 we got let out of class to play in the snow at williams school which is near the rr tracks of lorrane and 66 . later the principal said it wasnt true snow, but groppel snow. years later i looked the incident up on line and found the story in the glendora press and indeed we had snow at that elevation. the principal missinformed us.

Graupel is one of the types of snow.

Now, if I may be pedantic: Graupel is formed when snowflakes encounter super cooled droplets of water while falling through space. The crystalline structure…oh never mind. Kids, just go out and play and have a good time.

It was the biggest single snowfall I have ever seen in 50 years of living here.
