Some sad news Christmas Day

On Christmas I found out that an old friend of 40 years had passed away. He was 65.
He lived in Connecticut and we’ve not been in touch the past couple years.

I didn’t hear the reason he died, but as he died while in a “care facility” I assume it was due to some illness.
I’ve been thinking back to the many fun times we had camping on the shore of Cape Cod,
and in his parents’ rustic cabin in the woods of Vermont.

We would go to the cabin a couple times each winter to shovel the snow off the roof so it didn't cave in from the weight ... (and to party)

The two cats my wife and I had for 14 years were from a litter his cat had.

Another soul to welcome me when it's my turn to cross over.

I try to ping (send an email) to 10-20 of my past acquaintances one or twice a year. I do care about each and every one and I hope they want to know that my pinger is still working.

I know many people who have gotten into the "read via phone, forget to reply" mode. While our omnipresent mobile devices make it easy to get short messages or email subject lines, they aren't good at typing a response. And the reminder to respond has disappeared. I do like gmail's "remind me later" feature.

Maybe this isn't a problem with fb but then, of course, it is only a fb community that sees these.

30 years ago I had a wedding suit, because all my friends were getting married.

In my mid 50s now and... I have a funeral suit.

I'm sorry that you lost such a life long friend.
