Dell Rapids firefighter terminated after racist Facebook comment

A Dell Rapids volunteer firefighter was dismissed from his organization after he allegedly posted racist comments on social media.

The department said John Nygaard was no longer with the organization after he was linked to comments on the page of Paige Shoemaker, a Kansas State University student who came under fire last week for wearing blackface and using racial epithets on Snapchat.

Nygaard allegedly commented, "Think we should make slaves again" and "{expletive} these people" on Shoemaker's page.

After several people posted screenshots of the comments online, Dell Rapids Fire Rescue posted a statement to Facebook saying that Nygaard was no longer part of the organization.

2. In this case he was a volunteer

so technically he couldn't get fired. However, what you post may cause others not to want to associate with you. However, one thing is not in doubt--the guy is an idiot.
