Her Lead All But Gone In Iowa, Hillary Clinton Deploys Bill To Win Over Voters

As Hillary Clinton has seen her lead evaporate in Iowa, and some allies are openly fretting that she could repeat her 2008 loss here, she is deploying one of her most powerful weapons - her husband.

With just more than two weeks before Iowa holds the first nominating contests of 2016, former President Clinton is cross-crossing the state for rallies in metropolitan areas and rural outposts, trying to convince voters that his wife is uniquely qualified to be president now because of her experience and mettle.

“Here’s my argument for Hillary,” he told nearly 300 supporters gathered Friday at a community college in Marshalltown. “If you want someone who can keep America safe, and restore broad-based prosperity, who can deal with kitchen-table issues that are eating families alive, stop the president’s progress from being repealed … if you want to know who’s the most likely to do that – it’s not close.”

But close is exactly what the Democratic race is in Iowa. Clinton's once routinely double-digit lead over Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders has dwindled, with a Des Moines Register/Bloomberg Politics poll this week giving her the support of 42% of likely Democratic caucusgoers to Sanders’ 40%, well within the margin of error.

Even her supporters say they can’t predict a win, and fear the fallout of a loss.

superiority of Clinton's ground game, about how she has learned from her mistakes from the third place Iowa finish in 2008.

The Des Moines Register poll has a very sturdy reputation and its results suggest the race in Iowa is within the margin of error.

The Sanders campaign is a very motivated bunch. True everywhere, actually, not just in Iowa.

It looks from the polling that either Sanders or Clinton wins in Iowa, but it is very noteworthy that the race is this close. I believe Sanders has the momentum and the motivation. It looks to me like Bernie can win this thing in Iowa.
