IMO it's mainly the Republicans that keep telling everyone that this election is about the 'economy'

... I may be wrong but it seems to me that I hear that from 'them' more than from our side.

The Republicans began their JOBS JOBS JOBS mantra last year in order to frame the discussion of the election, and then they have done nothing at all to help to improve the situation. And it was also the Republicans that did all of that obstruction in Congress which resulted in The US losing our credit rating.

While reading Ann Romney's quotes below a bit ago ...

The wife of Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney, during a sit-down interview with CBS 59 in Milwaukee, was asked about the second-guessing within the GOP's tent over the campaign.

"You know there is always sniping and everyone always thinks they are the best critic, and they know this and they know that," she said. "And you know what, it is really amazing to me that people forget that what this election really is about is the economy."

It got me to thinking that I am NOT convinced this election's biggest issue is the economy.
IF it was then people wouldn't be 'forgetting' about it

The main reason I think it is not really about the economy, as far as JOBS go, is that the 'majority' of folks that want to work ARE currently working.
There are more folks employed in The USA than unemployed.
(I do not have the numbers, but that seems correct to me.)
I can NOT believe that the number one issue for 'folks that are currently working' is the issue of 'jobs'.

And at the moment the stock market is doing pretty darn good.

The economy would of course be doing better if the Republicans were not obstructing the bills in Congress that would create more jobs, etc. so in that respect the election IS about voting out the Republicans in order to help the economy.

In my opinion, I think this election is more about electing more Democrats to Congress that will pass an immigration reform bill and The Dream Act, keeping President Obama in office because is best to represent us around the world regarding foreign policy and he will not get us into more wars like the other side would, and ensuring that we have a Democratic president that will appoint the next two or three Supreme Court Justices,

Also, the election is about tossing out the Republicans that are trying to take away Women's Rights.

That's the end of my rambling for tonight

Huge issue not being addressed much.
The jobs that people have to take after Bain sends the good ones to China that pay $10/hour with no benefits. Why? Because employers--Repugs all--can get away with it, and unions have been gutted. I want to scream when they call Obama the "food stamp president"--look in the mirror folks, most of the people on food stamps are *working* at those wonderful low-paying jobs your party loves. Working hard, sometimes multiple jobs, yet they will "never take personal responsibility for their lives" per your leader. And your party wants these irresponsible folks to pay more taxes too, even though most of them pay more in total taxes as a % of their income than Mitt and countless other zillionaires.
