(2,978 posts)This Bernie supporter thinks she responded very well, actually. Best move under the circumstances and by far the most admirable way she handled things all night. The poetry vs prose comment was spot on.
Bernie has been so much "all about substance" that the ad has always been unapologetically about invoking "poetry," as she put it, and that's fine, because he does it so little. Most politicians offer bad poetry and first grade prose. He offers undergraduate level prose non-stop.
On the one hand, asking him to respond to her ad, because it did put forth her current (and let's hope) final central argument, made sense, I guess.
But to ask someone to respond to his very artfully done, visionary ad was really weird. What's she going to say? I hate Simon and Garfunkel? Why did they play the chorus four times? The use of human profiles to form pixelated larger images is still fresh but has become more common in the past 10 years?
I will give her props for handling it well.
