does anyone really want to see this guy back in the WH? Another four years of Clinton drama? Oh god.
Sure a HC win would of course be preferable than four hellish years of the Trump circus but that's not saying much.

(1,192 posts)So that's out of question. He's gonna drop out even if his supporters won't let him.
As for the Clintons going back in the WH? That's also out of question. Voters won't let that happen.

Clinton, Sanders, O'Malley . . . any of these over someone from the Clown Car. Because the ride doesn't end after four years, and four of the present Supremes are 78 to 83 years old.

(58,785 posts)Btw, I noted, from what Hillary said when being asked about appointing Obama ("would be" "a great idea" , that it sounds as if she does know something of his plans and they don't include SCOTUS. ("likely has other plans for his post-White House life." Too bad.

(27,814 posts)Yeah, I do.
A man with eight years of presidential experience as a live-in advisor? What an incredible asset to any administration.
Bill is incredibly intelligent, knowledgeable, and experienced not only in politics, but in global economics and international diplomacy.
Throw that legendary Clinton charisma and eloquence into the mix, and it's win-win all around.

(6,604 posts)neither honest nor trustworthy when he was completing his second term. To the tune of 58%, if memory serves.
The question was who would want to see Bill back in the WH - I said I would.
I didn't check with everyone else in the country before expressing my opinion on the matter - nor would my opinion have been changed if I had.

(6,604 posts)I had seriously wondered whether you had managed to solicit 10 million people's opinions per minute in the half an hour that elapsed before you replied to the OP.
Decorum (and a sense of fairness) prohibits my expressing any further opinion of your really interesting response.

(58,785 posts)myself at all like some things Clinton did during that conservative era in America, but honesty should require one to admit that Clinton was ferociously competent at dealing with an extremely hostile Congress. Getting laws passed and implemented is extremely technical, and a number of times he made complete fools of GOP leaders who didn't know how to play their own game as well as he did.
Everyone who knows him says he's brilliant, and, yes, we really will benefit from his input.

(6,604 posts)gave us all the Defense of Marriage Act, NAFTA, Welfare "Reform," the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, and a militarized police force, just to name a handful of things that enhanced American life during his tenure.
But as we all remember and would rather not, despite this hectic schedule he found time to relax, thereby sullying his office and giving Al Gore ample reason (see above) to keep him at arm's length during the 2000 campaign. We know how that turned out.
And last I checked, Republicans did not constitute anywhere near 58% of the voting-age public, so the excuse that his abysmal moral standing can be laid at the opposing party's doorstep doesn't wash by a long shot.
Yes, he's brilliant. One would pretty much have to be, to have pulled off what he managed.

(1,443 posts)I don't think Bill could keep things to himself for long and behave like a proper "First Lady" so to speak (in this case First Gentleman would be the proper term) - keeping quiet and demure in the background as the spouse of the POTUS is expected to. The media will be constantly asking for Bill's opinion on every issue that comes up, which would be a constant distraction for Pres. Hillary.
NanceGreggs
(27,814 posts)Perhaps I should withdraw my support for HRC - which is based on her own intelligence, experience, and grasp of international affairs - on the idea that someone on a message board thinks her husband "would be a distraction".
I am very confident that a man who spent eight years as POTUS himself is more acutely aware than anyone on the planet what his role should be, and is more than capable of acting accordingly.

No spit take found on the internet would do justice here.

(137 posts)I would love to have Bill Clinton back in the White House. He's highly intelligent and had great success with the economy. Eight years of peace and prosperity. Plus it would drive the Repukes nuts.

(62,270 posts)If he didn't have a heart attack. Oh and I'm reasonably sure 9/11 would've never happened. Bill was obsessed with Bin Laden.
The right wing drama and faux scandals were just that, drama and faux scandals.

And if you are going to let a little affair in the White House bother you, read some history all the way back to the founding fathers.

(23,664 posts)I don't need to see it reported on the nightly news. From the White House. Especially after a class act like Obama.

(30,058 posts)Hillary will be an effective president, she is for Americans, we need someone who has worked as a strong advocate, if Bill Clinton is a part of the couple in the WH, this would be good. It would be much better than other choices.

(3,335 posts)What I care about is someone whose experienced enough to deal with the drama. I support President Obama 100% but he wasn't prepared for the bullshit the GOP threw at him. Rather than a No-Drama-Obama, I would have preferred a You-don't-want-to-start-that-shit-with-me-because-I'll-finish-it-Obama.
