Poll: Clinton leads Sanders by 5 points in Iowa

According to the latest Monmouth University Poll, the former secretary of state has the support of 47 percent of the likely Iowa electorate, with the Vermont senator behind her by 5 percentage points at 42 percent. Former Maryland Gov. Martin OMalley trails with 6 percent.

(3,666 posts)I'm really hoping she doesn't just beat him, but embarrass Bernie in Iowa. I want to send that blowhard packing sooner rather than later.

(10,144 posts)but I do think the surprising strong showing by Sanders will sharpen her campaigning skills and make her a better candidate in the general. That's my objective side. My partisan side wants Hillary to crush Sanders.

(2,872 posts)To y'all, polls only seem to matter when your chosen candidate are on top of 'em. I hold Quinnipiac and Monmouth polls in equal regard; so naturally-- kinda disappointed here. The consolation; it's not even the first yet. There's still time.
