I think I remember Nixon won by one vote per precinct nationwide.

One more person in those tied precincts would have tipped Iowa for Bernie. Your vote is verrrrry important.

It just averaged out that way. I think JFK's 1960 election is quoted as being one by one vote per precinct also.

In reality, some precincts were close, others not so much.
