(83,898 posts)How about Alzheimer? Have you studied these diseases ? Do you have a loved one that suffered from it? A devastating disease that in the end breaks your body down. Long and slow it just shuts you down. Prior to their body shutting down, they are so confused. They lose so many normal functions. They lose their memory slowly they lose it every single day until they no longer known you. They no longer know you. He did not know me!
I spent four hours with my father on the night that he died. I held his hand as he slipped away from me.
Your post is incredibly cruel.
This is what DUers do now?
HooptieWagon
(17,064 posts)She voted to drop. Not too concerned about the feelings of the defenders of a neo-con. If she's the Commander in Chief, we better be sure she has 100% mental faculties and solid judgement. The latter has already been proven faulty.

(83,898 posts)You, sadly no.
Are you seriously saying she has dementia?
Don't talk to me about bombs, talk to me about the dementia you know so much about. Please go on.

(83,898 posts)Yah...a question mark. It was an innuendo, and you can answer to it. Talk to me about this devastating disease that my father wasted away from.
ANSWER THE QUESTION!
You are back to Kissinger when a DUer lost a father to said disease?
You are so off topic here.
Now you may return to defending a Kissinger admirer. On a "democratic" forum no less.
Where the fuck did I mention Hill or Kissinger?????????????????????????????????
Mother of god. I posted on your dementia remark and you took this totally off topic.
Never mind, never fucking mind you do not give one shit about my dad. Obviously your candidate does not either. My dad that I lost a year ago does not matter. Got it, loud and clear.

(29,798 posts)Your personal story is unfortunate (and for that you do have everyone's sympathy) but it is not any sort of answer to the question posed. Attempting to use it to attack this question is simply bullying behavior.
I've wondered myself if Hillary's near daily failures of judgement might not reflect a health issue.
HooptieWagon
(17,064 posts)It's convinced me that Hillary probably doesn't have dementia as I asked. The odd behavior and nastiness she's displaying appears to be a group affliction. I hope they can be diagnosed and helped.

If the US military didn't have those bombs there wouldn't have been a vote about how to use them.

REASON FOR ALERT
This post is disruptive, hurtful, rude, insensitive, over-the-top, or otherwise inappropriate.
ALERTER'S COMMENTS
This poster first claimed that Clinton had dementia, and now doubles down by calling her a neo-con? Calling a Democrat a neo-con has NEVER been permitted on DU, please hide this stuff.
You served on a randomly-selected Jury of DU members which reviewed this post. The review was completed at Sun Feb 7, 2016, 02:48 PM, and the Jury voted 1-6 to LEAVE IT.
Juror #1 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: A rose by any other name...
Juror #2 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: No explanation given
Juror #3 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: The author made a tongue-in-cheek question about Clinton's mental faculties, and criticized Clinton's judgement. Whoever reported the post, took it personally, and didn't bother argue against the "Hillary's bomb victims" remark.
Juror #4 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: No explanation given
Juror #5 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE

Juror #6 voted to HIDE IT
Explanation: "Neocon"? "If she's the Commander in Chief, we better be sure she has 100% mental faculties and solid judgement. The latter has already been proven faulty."?
hooptiewagon is spreading lies.. trying to gin up all the hate he can on Hillary Clinton without a shred of proof.

(23,156 posts)at that level live inside a bubble. Hillary Clinton clearly as zero idea how Henry Kissinger is perceived by most people. She's probably unaware that he can't travel to certain countries because they'd arrest him for war crimes.
She has been travelling in rarified circles for far too long.
A side note here: In no small part because of his thick German accent, but in greater part because of his willingness to do things like tap the phones of his subordinates, I honestly thought he was an unrepentant Nazi. Imagine my surprise when I learned he was a Jew whose family fled Hitler in the 1930's.
HooptieWagon
(17,064 posts)And I never could figure his extreme RW behavior...and I too considered it nearly Nazi like. And he seemed to have utter hatred and contempt for anyone even slightly left of center. I'm not surprised he and Hillary get along so fabulously, but I'm stunned she would tout it.

Most people who have criticisms of Kissinger are able to distinguish between organizational acumen and carpet bombing of Laos. You could always send her a list of words and names she isn't allowed to utter in public, but my guess is that she knows people like you aren't going to vote for her anyway.

(9,436 posts)The information comes from documents declassified at the request of the National Security Archive.
They show that Mr Kissinger was eager for the US to stand up to Cuba.
The documents from the Gerald R Ford Presidential Library show that US officials devised plans to attack ports and military installations in Cuba in addition to measures ordered by Mr Kissinger to deploy Marine battalions based at the US Navy base at Guantanamo Bay to "clobber" the Cubans.
-------
"I think we are going to have to smash Castro," Mr Kissinger told Mr Ford in a White House meeting in February 1976, adding Mr Ford should defer action until after the presidential election that November.
"I agree," Mr Ford said.
US contingency plans drawn up on the options warned any military aggression by the US in Cuba could lead to a direct confrontation with the USSR.
"The circumstances that could lead the United States to select a military option against Cuba should be serious enough to warrant further action in preparation for general war," one document said.
The plans were never undertaken, as Jimmy Carter was elected president that year.

(27,670 posts)Kissingers best answer to Kerrys question was for the sake of credibility. The national security adviser understood that the United States could not win the Vietnam War and largely agreed with Kerry that the Americanization of the conflict had been a mistake. But he was adamant that the nation could not be seen to lose it either. In a widely noted essay in Foreign Affairs in January 1969 titled The Viet Nam Negotiations, Kissinger placed greatest emphasis not on the tangible ramifications of withdrawal but on the amorphous psychological ones:
The commitment of 500,000 Americans has settled the issue of the importance of Viet Nam. What is involved now is confidence in American promises. However fashionable it is to ridicule the terms credibility or prestige, they are not empty phrases; other nations can gear their actions to ours only if they can count on our steadiness . . . In many parts of the worldthe Middle East, Europe, Latin America, even Japan stability depends on confidence in American promises.
Henry Kissingers plan for a staged withdrawal from Vietnam was thus sustained by the logic of keeping up appearances. We could not simply walk away from an enterprise involving two administrations, five allied countries, and thirty-one thousand dead, Kissinger observed in his memoir, as if we were switching a television channel. More would die to display Americas continued potency to friends and enemies. The nation would not slink away under cover of darkness but depart with all guns blazing.

(20,878 posts)Years ago (yes many) Kissinger was supposed to appear and speak at the State college I was attending at that time. Being he was embroiled in controversy, he dared not show his face and the speaking event was cancelled.
Since this time, the war crimes, etc. have only piled on and why the hell he is not in jail is beyond me.
I guess Kissinger has a permanent Get Out of Jail for life card!
I'd never use him as a reference for anything, much less as a tool to use while campaigning for President.
That said, she must be scraping the bottom of the barrel for WHO'S WHO to be on her list of advocates!

(130 posts)... Name recognition or lack thereof with many young Americans. I am 37 and a student of history, but my 36 year old wife did not understand the significance of Hillary hitching her wagon to him until I explained it.
After that she researched him on Wikipedia and YouTube and then understood and strange way he was invoked by Hillary.
Boomers get it though and that's clear from reading many of the replies to this thread. Maybe that's a good thing considering Sanders lack of penetration on the 60+ age bloc.
