"Team Clinton tries to lower Nevada expectations with incredible (i.e. false) claims"

https://www.ralstonreports.com/blog/team-clinton-tries-lower-nevada-expectations-incredible-ie-false-claims

Clinton spokesman Brian Fallon told NBC's Chuck Todd...“There’s an important Hispanic element to the Democratic caucus in Nevada. But it’s still a state that is 80 percent white voters. You have a caucus-style format, and he’ll have the momentum coming out of New Hampshire presumably, so there’s a lot of reasons he should do well.”

80 percent white? What?

This canard was later repeated Wednesday by Clinton campaign manager Robby Mook, according to Politico's John Bresnahan. And it was then repeated on a conference call, ABC's Liz Kruetz reported.

I understand the desire of Team Clinton to lower expectations in Nevada after being crushed by Bernie Sanders in New Hampshire. But both Mook and Fallon know that 80 percent figure is ludicrous, and the attempt to make Nevada seem like Iowa and New Hampshire is a spin too far.
...
Nevada's Hispanic population is about 27 percent. African-Americans and Asian/Pacific Islanders make up almost 10 percent each. That is, nearly half of the state's population is made up of minorities.
...
The inestimable Adam Nagourney of The New York Times ignored the nonsense in a piece Wednesday that pointed out that Nevada is "as racially diverse as Iowa and New Hampshire are not."

There is no reliable polling in Nevada -- at least not yet. But the conventional wisdom had been that Clinton had a huge advantage here, especially because Team Sanders did not arrive until October. Not anymore.

I don't smell a rat. I smell something much more pungent from the Clinton campaign: fear.

There are exactly zero datapoints to indicate that.

Never have I seen someone as white as Hillary playing the race card so often to explain her own failures.
Poor racially disadvantaged Hillary.

of losing in Nevada, so they are trying to "lower expectations".

A recent but little known poll of Nevada showed their lead cut to 47-43. This was nine days before Iowa....

If they send old Bill out in a cowboy hat to bark about how bad Sanders is for Latinos, we'll know Sanders is set for a win.

I think Bill doesn't realize that it isn't 1992 anymore, and that the political winds have shifted.

Wouldn't surprise me if they had some shred of truth, possible outdated, to spin the yarn around.

Apparently, if Iowa and New Hampshire are examples, people of all races seem to like Bernie and his message.

The only ones that seem to get heartburn over the race of voters are those in the Clinton camp that can't figure out why people aren't voting for her.

White when the narrative needs them to be white, minority when it needs them to be minority. Since Hillary needs to keep up on the THEY'RE ALL HWHITE!! meme, she takes the former.

Disgusting as all hell, but that's how the subject has been handled for years.

and so they want to be able to continue pushing that meme, even if he does well in Nevada (which it sounds like they think he will). But as I said in post #4, BS has favorables at least as high as HRC among blacks who are familiar with both candidates. It doesn't mean he necessarily wins all those votes (because people can have favorable views of two candidates, even though they can only vote for one), but he should get a good share. I don't think the Clinton camp will be able to push this meme much longer. We'll see what happens in SC...
