Amy Goodman scorches CNN for an ‘obsession with polls’: ‘Are we telling people what to think?’

“Instead, pour that energy, investigation and money into people’s records,” she advised. “Whether they’re a businessman like Trump or they’re politicians like Hillary Clinton or Bernie Sanders. Look at their records, what have they done. Compare their rhetoric to what they have done throughout their life.”

Stelter argued that there was “value” in knowing what proportion of the electorate supported a candidate’s message.

“Well, you find that out with an election,” Goodman replied. “You find it out with a primary and a caucus.”

“People should just count the times that every network flashes the polls,” she remarked. “Are we telling people what to think?”

it takes ... you know...actual work. Any dumbass can read poll results and spout off predictions and let's face it most of the media (and sometimes even you Rachel Maddow) are dumbasses!

an election was a way to manipulate the results. There are so many poll taking organizations that are tied to a particular party that the questions asked can be written to get the results desired. What's the old joke about accountants? What do you want the number to be? The same thing goes for polls. They really should outlaw poll reporting and no calling winners until all the votes are in.

It is human nature for many people just wanting to say they voted for the winner and polls just seem to manipulate that result.

I agree with Amy Goodman that what should be the topic of discussion is the records of the candidates and they should be compared so that people could see the contrasts between candidates and become better informed voters.
