Big Money and the Death of Democracy
This country's big money-controlled political process is hopelessly corrupted it openly mocks democratic legitimacy. I no longer think that legitimacy exists. This country is ruled by money and the elite few who have it. Democracy is now a facade.
We exist in a duopoly - a one-party-rule with two 'sanctioned' wings where independents are entirely shut out and voters really having no say whatever.
This primary season is representative of just how corrupted we have become - it's pure theater with no substance, any substance is laughed at and marginalized. Major world and national issues go unaddressed. Major corporate media outlets and paid-for online propaganda features horse race politics exclusively.
As the presidential campaign goes on, public trust is undermined and a truth emergency leaves people uninformed about what they most need to know. Tracking polls focusing on electability, which is substituted for vital news, information and analysis.
Voters are left feeling shell-shocked and ashamed if they WANT more substance, any candidate who actually has substance and a plan to benefit We the People is driven out by big money.
What's the result of this game? About half the electorate opts out of voting. They become disgusted by the whole process and apathy sets in. When voting doesn't matter, why bother.
That's about where we are and I'm beginning to feel as if there's no way to recover. This presidential election is a big money coup, as we move further and further into oligarchy.
