Liberals, you need to get your gd shit together. The President lost a debate. He didnt lose Texas. For four years, this President has faced off one of the most obstructionist parties in modern American political history. He did this in the center of an economic collapse. He has delivered on too many promises to count, even in the dead heat of this. Hes been running ahead in an election where the opposition was fairly incompetent, where the leading opposition candidate told half the country to go fuck themselves with a stolen rusty tire iron. He has one debate where the opposition is competent, and thats it. Youre done. You have bad polling days, and youre done. Lets just call off the election and use that time to apply for foreign passports. I mean, holy shit, what a bunch of spineless bastards you turned out to be.
Ive spent the last few days talking to you motherfuckers, and I have several questions, beginning with: did you motherfuckers watch the same debate as me? Cause for the last few days, Ive heard people saying why didnt he point out that Romney was lying? He did. Why didnt he tie the economy to education or healthcare? He did. He made much of the same case for his Presidency as did Bill Clinton. He just didnt do it with the bullshit flourish that is Clintons specialty. But shit, for the last four years, he hasnt done the flourish. Hes been tired almost every day. Hes been tired at every press conference. Hes been tired at every speech and every state of the union with the exception of a handful of incidents. And all of a sudden, youre surprised he comes off tired? Fuck yes, hes tired. For four years, for four years while you were antsy that he was playing the adult in the room, while you thought he was being too nice, he fought daily for every reform at every impasse. Bill Clinton, for all his talents, didnt do what Barack Obama did. Not for the uninsured. Not for the poor. Not for college students. Not for women. Not for the children of illegal immigrants. Not in a recession. This President has wound down two wars. He gave the kill order for Osama Bin Laden. He has promoted genuine efforts at democracy in the middle east, in a region that is in the middle of a revolution that came under his watch. While everything he does gets fucked daily by the tidal wave of shithead that is the Republican Party, the Israeli Prime Minister, the European economy, probably the whole of the Middle East, some douchebags with Youtube accounts and the state of Arizona, we ask if his heart is in it? Really? If he really wants to be President? For four years, we sat at his left flank just pissing and moaning while he delivered what none of his predecessors could. He did this against a party that is objectively crazy. And now, one debate, and the question is, is the Presidents heart in it?
What happened to chess? Yeah, fuck chess, we had a few bad poll days, time to go beat our own brains in with an ice pick. You know what? Fuck the Presidents heart. I know his hearts in it because while you and I have been fucking around amongst ourselves, bullshitting into the ether as to what it would mean for the campaign if Obama came off like an angry black man for a second, hes been there bleeding for us and our progressive policies every goddamn day. You know whose heart isnt in it? You know who needs to take the blame right now? You know who is letting everybody down? We are. Were the ones weve been waiting for, and we surely are a huge pile of superstitious assholes. For four years, this President has made good on his promises even with the shit-storm that has become the political process in America. And he deserves, if not our support, then our resolve. So stop fucking panicking because you had a bad poll day. You know how many bad poll days the President has had? You might know better than he does, because hes been too busy trying to keep Iran and Israel from becoming the dust and ash filled lands formerly known as Iran and Israel. So, for fucks sake, get your shit together. This is our President. He needs us. He needs our support. He needs our resolve. He needs us to beat Mitt Romney, because that asshole, despite what he said in the debate, would do exactly the damage that George Bush did, and we literally cant afford that.
We cant afford more wars. We cant afford more debt. We cant afford more tax breaks for wealthy fuckers. We cannot afford more jobs lost, more pensions squandered, more homes drowned in debt just so one more asshole can make his buck at the margins of legality. We cannot afford losing healthcare reform. People with preexisting conditions who might lose insurance, people whose parents are going to get old and need care and housing, they cant afford it. Our generation and our children cant afford the debt wed accumulate under Romney. They cant afford the spending cuts that wont happen, the wars that will, and every promise that hell break as quickly as he made it. We cant afford this collapse. And if it happens, its not on the President. He did poorly in a debate. If that means he loses the election, its on us. Because this man hasnt been quiet. He has fought for us and our principles and our policies every day, and if he loses this because of a debate, then it means for all our talk, we werent ready to fight for him.
Get your shit together. Because you cant afford not to, because you are better than this, because you need the resolve of the last four years. You have been beaten the fuck down by all the monstrosities there are. Now is not the time, a month away from an election between a man who has helped us fight and a man who would continue to bludgeon us, to panic. Now is the time to stand, with the fire you need to get through this pulsing through your corroded arteries and your over-extended gut, with the conviction of your principles, and fight for this President the way hes fought for us. Not because he's got this, but because he might not. Because now, he might need you. Because we might need you. So please, calm the fuck down, get your goddamn shit together and fight for this because for once, it means something that you do more than talk shit.

(12 posts)Sometimes you need a kick in the ass to come back to reality. I voted for the man not his debate performances. Time to shake it off and get back to work. This is going to be a close one.
Part of everyone's anger is we get sick to our stomach when thinking about a President Romney and how an Obama loss will justify on the right all the bullshit they have been saying. They will repeal all his legislation and demonize him as the worst president in history and history books are written by the winners. Republicans have become a dangerous party and a clear threat to this country.
Another four years for Obama could change things for decades just from Supreme Court nominations alone.
It's all about the next few weeks. Let's get to work and be excited about it.
I still believe...

(60,536 posts)and welcome to DU. I sent copies of the OP to Randy Andy Sullivan as well as Chris Matthews. I occasionally hear back from them when I send them stuff but, I doubt I'll be getting a response for this. Randy Andy yesterday acknowledged he was too much into drama and I'm told Chris Matthews apologized for his hysteria.

Other than that addition, the entire piece is relevant to the over reaction of that debate. I was completely disgusted w/ all the so called 'left' pundits on TV. (4,438 posts)excuse, but I do understand that the GOP is doing everything they can to keep us poor and unable to contribute monetarily to Obama, trying to keep us from voting in every way possible. Working for peanuts and worrying makes you tired. I contribute when I can, even if it's $5., $10, $15. whatever. It all helps. We know Obama could rip Romney a new asshole if he wanted to, but Obama is not a game player. He is a serious man trying to solve serious problems. He doesn't have time for puppet Rob-me's bullshit. I will vote absentee ballot and drive it directly to campaign headquarters. I think that's the best bet to have my vote count right now. We know the GOP posse owns the e-voting machines and scanners. Thank you again for taking the time to post this. I think it will be effective. Don't give up dems. Have faith in Obama. Like the Admiral said, Obama's the smartest guy in the room.

(36,055 posts)We're only idiots if we mistake literalist discussions for the real issue surrounding Romney's Big Bird toss-off. Big Bird is the symbol of this country's commitment to children's programming, the first major thrust of this kind being through the Children's Television Workshop. We're not idiots to keep that commitment front and center in discussions about domestic spending priorities.

(4,310 posts)I'm reading comment sections from all over the place. It was
funny and relevant the first couple days. The Obama "Big
Bird" ad is getting a lot of criticism from Obama supporters
that feel there are far more important issues ad worthy and
fail to see the humor in it at this critical juncture.
Romney is going to run an ad blitz in the final days of this campaign
unlike anything we have seen before. Good to know we have the
Big Bird ad to fight back with.
ancianita
(36,055 posts)not a fair assessment of the thoughts about PBS funding that directly connects to people's lives and our tax spending priorities in general. And unless you're watching too many Romney speeches, you should know by now that Big Bird is gone from the Obama campaign. But not people's minds.

(35,015 posts)Yes, I know what we were TOLD after the debate. I know the MSM, the campaigns, and the entire world it seems say Romney won that thing, but jesus christ on a trailer hitch - Romney lied, seemed about ready to become unhinged, and at times was incredibly rude and aggressive.
THAT is winning?
And now, after one debate performance, we are being TOLD that Romney has had this incredible surge and is ahead in the race.
I am sick of being told what I should think or feel.
Sick of being told that my own eyes and ears are wrong.

Meanwhile the teabaggers and their ilk go on and on and on and on and on and on and on about the GDF birth certificate! (57 posts)It's not us that are making the polls move. It's the low-information, misinformed voter and unfortunately there are more of them than us. It's frustrating that the "liberal" media isn't doing their job and these voters don't care to know that Romney lied. Most of them just know he's not black and got up on stage with Obama without throwing up on himself. That's a "win" to them. It's disgusting.
DonViejo
(60,536 posts)the polls over at Slate (I think), reporting the rise in Myth's poll numbers originated with two factions of voters: Republicans and low info voters. The Repubs were afraid of Romney, "too extreme," and yet, they like the President (because of Obamacare, ending the war in Iraq, tax cuts they received AND the death of bin Laden). The debate had the effect of solidifying Myth's GOP voters, and yet, they still aren't sure they were voting for him but, they did feel more comfortable with him.

(387 posts)Yes, I'm going to freak out. Not because of the debate, but because of the complete and utter collapse of women's support of Obama over one bad debate.
And while I'm with ya, and am still working as hard as ever, when women who will die under a Romney Admin suddenly switch to Romney, it sure as shit gives you a "now why am I fighting for them" moment.

(298 posts)When the debate was over I thought to myself that Obama did OK, but Romney showed himself to be a snide, slick, goofus. His body language was jerky and erratic, and his answers made no sense. President Obama on the other hand held his own. He explained and answered the questions as a person would in a debate. Immediately afterwards the spinners made their pro-Romney and anti-Obama comments. (I watched it on PBS btw.) After a minute or two my husband said "Well he sure blew that one!" "Whaaa.... whaaa....?" I said.
He said "It's obvious Romney was much stronger with his answers." I then asked him. "Did you just hear what the news commentators said?" "Well, yes I did." he said. I just know he had to have been influenced by all that spinnin.'
The next morning I was VERY surprised to hear that had Romney totally creamed our President in the debate. I threw our morning paper on the floor as hard as I could and tried to forget about it. For over a week now all I've heard is how Romney was a prince among princes during his debate performance. Last night Diane Sawyer even asked President Obama "Why do you think you did so poorly in the debate?" How could he answer a question that was not true?

(20,219 posts)It's so easy to lose your compass and start to doubt, or even forget what you know, what you witnessed.
When he was first elected, I had a feeling that he would be great, even among the greatest.
Then the angst started in. The devaluation, resentment, perfectionism, accusations, and it became an avalanche of distrust. I even doubted my perceptions for awhile and thought that perhaps I should join the angry critics who sounded cynical and cool.
Fine, it's human to question your allegiances; a sign of a functioning brain, in fact.
But what saddens me most deeply are the people who revile him, brainwashed by this stinking putrid treacherous and craven mass media and their inability to pull away from their dependence on cheap and simplistic emotional self-involvement.
I'm especially saddened by people I know who are satisfied with blindness and energized by hate.

(55,981 posts)Do you think by swearing at people and telling them to "get their shit together" you are helping the Democratic cause?
And apparently you dont consider yourself to be a "politically liberal person". Is that correct or did I get the wrong message?
So if you arent liberal, what are you? Where do you differ from the "liberals" you seem to enjoy disparaging?
And I think it takes a lot of nerve for you to even suggest that liberals arent behind the reelection of President BArack Obama.
For the record, I think Pres Obama did good in the debate and will work hard for his reelection in spite of your insults.
