2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumHillary Clinton is a better human being than Trump, let alone a better candidate for president
No matter what "scandal" you pin on Hillary, it pales in comparison to what Trump has done in his past from his mob dealings, to his BKs, to how he treated the women in his life, to how he's treating the union in his LV casino.
So, if anyone here wants to make the claim that they're both the same, you need to check your facts and you need to clear your head.

Groups with giant lobbying budgets gave Clinton big speaking fees ahead of 2016 presidential campaign
Almost half of the money from Hillary Clintons speaking engagements came from corporations and advocacy groups that were lobbying Congress at the same time.
The Democratic presidential candidate earned $10.2 million in 2014, her first full calendar year after leaving the State Department. Of that, $4.6 million came from groups that also spent on lobbying Congress that year, according to data compiled by the nonpartisan Center for Responsive Politics....
...Asked Tuesday if there were conflicts of interest in speaking to these groups, Clinton was curt with reporters in Cedar Falls, Iowa. No, she said.
Obviously, Bill and I have been blessed and were very grateful for the opportunities that we had...

It's all right there, people just don't want to see it (or don't care to).

Supporting bailouts for wall street banksters while average families were living on the streets makes a person so humble and noble.
Approving arms deals to facist brutal totalitarian dictators after those dictators donated to your foundation makes a person truly altruistic.
She is a great person...........

One example, Trump hinted that he could "kill" members of the media. Point to a similar quote from Hillary.

(115,683 posts)That's a very low bar. Of course Hillary is a better human being than Trump. Anyhow, he's not a human being; he's a yam. And any yam I can find at my local grocery store is a better yam than Donald Trump. Also, the vegetables you find at the grocery store that are labeled yams are really sweet potatoes.

One very prolific poster, who is now on a bit of a vacation, made no bones about the fact that they wanted Hillary to lose in the general.

(24,411 posts)Facts are facts.
Her negatives are through the roof. Most of America feels that she is untrustworthy.
Republicans will not vote for her. They will line up for miles to vote for Trump and against her. The Republican electorate is activated. She does horrible with Independents. Half of our party can't stand her.
You tell me how that, in any way, is a successful pathway to the Presidency?
Have you looked at Republican turnout vs Dem turnout in these primaries? The only way to win is with a candidate that appeals to the entire Democratic party and Independent. Ordinarily, elections are determined by the Independent vote, but that is assuming that the candidate's party is completely lined up behind the nominee. So...we won't even have THAT, plus the overwhelming majority of Independents will not vote for her.
It's a recipe for disaster. It's what Sanders supporters have been screaming from the rafters for weeks.
We don't want Trump to win. That's part of the reason that we want Bernie. He's electable. She is not.

(24,411 posts)about Clinton doing poorly with Independents. They don't like her.
It's a fact that you can't construct a pathway to the presidency without the support of Independents.
It's a fact that HRC doesn't have the full support of the Democratic party.
It's also a fact that there are 20 percent more Republicans participating in these primary contests, which signals massive turnout for Trump.
I didn't say I had a crystal ball. I'm urging you to look at the facts.
If she's our nominee then Trump will be living in the White House and his trollop wife will be picking out leopard print for the Lincoln bedroom drapes.

(11,076 posts)We have turned so far away from what a good candidate is it is pathetic. The small donor got Bernie here and they will happily carry him to the finish line. Now if Clinton sabotages the message or the Kochs continue to corrupt the system with dollars, things will become more complicated. So basically it's not if but when because if 2008 is any lesson we know that Hill will tear the house down and scratch the eyes out of kittens if this thing goes south for her.

(2,052 posts)I know they have both helped and hurt a great number of people.
I don't see how we can know who the better human being is unless you have a relationship with both.
Both have poor net favorability. Who knows who the better human being is? If you ask Americans to vote for who you trust more out of those two, we are in trouble. That to me speaks to who a human being is.
Better candidate, different story.

Her own choices show that you're wrong. And it's not work or official socializing, it's off-clock personal time. This is not news during this election, I knew this quite a while ago.

(50,269 posts)Trump is probably the biggest bully in political history and for some reason the sheeple are eating it up. He'll go after Hillary as a criminal and Bernie as a Commie. There's an enthusiasm gap this year and it's not in our favor, so I'm not terribly optimistic a Democrat will win in November.

(23,664 posts)She can't claim to be offering something "new" to the electorate, when her entire sales pitch up to now is her vast experience. Whether you think there's a problem now, a lot of people think there is and they cannot see her as a solution when she is so tied to the problem.
A lot of people are sicker of the status quo than they are afraid of Trump. And they're already sick of all the Clinton white trash drama.
