(28,876 posts)No idea what to make of it. I also saw that Sanders turned down his endorsement.

(13,103 posts)I knew Jesse endorsed Bernie, but that is the last info. I have.
Do you have a link or article title ???
Jesse is a strange bird.
I agree with him on many things.
I disagree with him on many things.
He does seem to be an honest person.

(2,427 posts)I'll go for Ventura.
EDIT - BMUS advised that the above should be openly disclaimed as a hypothetical situation and the resulting action I would take in such an event.

(57,349 posts)Someone will alert on it and others will try to get you banned for saying that.
Something like: as of this moment this is a fictional scenario. No Democrats were harmed during the making of this post. Thank you for serving.

(2,427 posts)However, you're probably right!

(56,582 posts)I'm guessing not. Or maybe you do and don't care, or just are easily duped by people who project a "straight talker" persona?
Ventura was a horrible governor.
Juicy_Bellows
(2,427 posts)Again, given the three of Trump, Clinton and Ventura - I'd vote for Ventura, warts and all. Unless you've got something damning to share that I am unaware of - I'm all ears.

(13,103 posts)That keeps him off my list of people I would vote for.
Thanks for the info.

(2,872 posts)That's... Probably the worst news you could have brought here. Do you know the shit he did to the widow of a SEAL? God, ew.

(9,454 posts)But is is interesting. Not sure if he could run a decent campaing though.
If he could pull a few % it could make things harder to predict.

(2,872 posts)Even if he *was* slandered by Chris Kyle, Janos went after Kyle's widow rather than letting shit lie. I can't see him as anything other than a vicious opportunist.

(357 posts)Kyle was a 'hero', but also a liar, and Jesse certainly has the right to set the record straight. I don't blame him one bit.

A couple of clips from an article from SLATE...
American Liar: Why Jesse Ventura is likely to collect millions from Chris Kyles American Sniper.
There was, however, a problem: The Ventura story wasnt true, and Ventura meant to prove it. So he took Kyle to trial, suing himand, after he died, his estatefor defamation and unjust enrichment. In the United States, defamation cases are extremely difficult to win, thanks to the First Amendment. When allegedly defamatory statements pertain to a public figure, the plaintiff mustnt just prove those statements were false. He has to prove the defendant made those statements with actual malicethat is, knowledge that they were false or with reckless disregard for their falsity. Very few defamation plaintiffs can make it over the high bar of actual malice.
Ventura made it. On July 29, 2014, a federal jury returned from six days of deliberations to award Ventura $1.845 million in damagesspecifically, $500,000 for defamation and about $1.345 million for unjust enrichment. (In other words, Kyle unjustly profited from defaming Ventura, and so his estate must give Ventura some of that money.) Kyles widow, Taya Kyle, promptly filed for judgment as a matter of law, asking the trial judge to reverses the jurys verdict because the jury clearly got it wrong. Failing that, she asked for an entirely new trial. The judge denied both requests, defending the jurys verdict as legally and factually justifiable. Kyles widow is currently appealing the decision; her odds of winning appear quite low.
Also, note: "HarperCollins libel insurance, in fact, will cover her [Taya Kyle's] defamation damages."
The flak Jesse took over this was flying from the right-wing. Jesse is a character for sure, but Kyle was clearly a lying jerk which is the ONLY reason Jesse won this law suit.
