2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumOMG: Hillary's Campaign Is Failing To Raise Money; Raising Less than 2008!!!
As of this point in the campaign in 2008, Hillary's campaign had raised $154 million dollars. Right now she's only raised $130 million, a significant drop-off in funding given that she lost 2008 and ended up more than $22 million in debt. If she couldn't even beat Obama with that kind of money, one has to wonder what is she going to be able to do in the general election... rely on Sanders supporters for funding?!?!

(19,877 posts)The irony of Bernie Sanders raising by far the most money and losing the most contests & disproving his own theories about campaign finance.

(3,623 posts)$188 million when you include Pac and Super-Pac money. That's around twice as much as Sanders.

(1,720 posts)Hold the phone. All the campaigns- including Secretary Clinton's- have their fund raising efforts running at top speed.
This drop off must be a big concern for her campaign.

(1,124 posts)One of the major criticisms of Hillary's campaign is that she is "bought" - the epitome of too much money in politics.
But now, the issue is she isn't raising enough money?
berni_mccoy
(23,018 posts)She's not receiving more campaign contributions than she did in 2008.
However, her super pacs are well funded (and I think we know by whom, but because of Citizens United, we can't find out). She's bought and paid for alright.

(30,481 posts)That being said Clinton seems to be doing great with the resources available to her.
Her biggest advantage is her one and only opponent. He is no Obama and is the only person challenging her.
Sanders does not possess this brilliance.
