http://thenewcivilrightsmovement.com/breaking-billy-graham-endorses-romney-then-scrubs-site-calling-mormonism-a-cult/politics/2012/10/12/51106Billy Graham last night endorsed Mitt Romney for president, and shortly thereafter, his website was scrubbed of a statement Graham or his organization made calling Mormonism a cult.
As of June 5, 2010, if not much earlier, Billy Grahams website stated:

(14,549 posts)Why have law enforcement agencies been so slow in arresting Ervil? One stumbling block is that authorities have little solid evidence directly linking LeBaron to the murder conspiracies. Furthermore, since many potential witnesses are polygamists, they do not want to come forward and testify in public. Perhaps the greatest hindrance is outright terror. Says one suburban Salt Lake City investigator: "So many people are afraid of Ervil."

(131 posts)Rev. Graham just met with RMoney several days ago. This is not his son, this is Graham himself speaking. While I believe little Frankie may have had some say-so in this decision, I do not believe that the decision was made without some input from the elder Graham. Why would this election be any different when they endorse Republicans in every election, no matter what their opinions and agenda are for the American people....all any Republican has to do is say they want to revoke Roe vs. Wade and it is a wrap for the Grahams, no matter the damage it does to the rest of the Nation, the poor, children, women's rights, the disabled, and the elderly....as long as they vow to do away with Planned Parenthood and abortion rights...

His family could issue a "statement" from dear ol' Billy and his faithful followers would be swayed by that. This man held a huge amount of power over people for many years and is probably still very revered and respected by the faithful. And if he is "incapable" of issuing a statement that is coherent and from a competent mind, how would any of them ever know? And with the state of the electorate the way it is now, some would not even care if we were shown a video of Billy drooling into his oatmeal. They would still believe he wanted to endorse Romney.
I see Franklin's fingerprints all over this endorsement. Wonder what's in it for him if Mitt wins?

I used to read the Letters to Billy Graham in the paper and you could see the tone change the less Billy Graham was able to do. It is no coincidence that his ministries have gone more to the right the less he has had to do with it.
These days he and is name are being used by Franklin.

He is RICH, and would rather see children hungry and the elderly dying because they have to choose between food and medicine, rather than stand by his moral and holy beliefs. As a born-again Christian myself, I have never really had to much respect for Rev. Graham because how can he say he is a so-called spiritual leader and then support the racist and discriminatory beliefs of the Republican Party for all these years, not opening his "holy" mouth to disavow such nonsense; this has always told me a lot about this person. The Bible say "We will all stand before God for our own sins"...Graham will have to stand before him for being a big hypocrite where Romney is concerned....I only have pity for this man...just pity.
Yea verily,
though he be RICH, yet shall he ride a camel to pass thru the eye of the needle and enter up into the Kingdom of Heaven to s*it upon the right hand of God... for Mitt's God is a merciful and forgiving god... but only if ye bequeaths thy Mormonic Church a few hundred million in thy last will and testament.

Graham probably asked Romney to accept Christ as his personal saviour (Graham is a Calvinist, so all Romney has to do is say the magic words). In return for accepting salvation, Romney probably asked him to remove the anti-Mormon stuff. OK... It's a Deal!
So Romney goes to Heaven and America goes to Hell.

(9,656 posts)Mormons also believe that they are the only Christians. Christians usually accept the baptisms of other denominations. Mormons don't.
The Catholic Church does not consider Mormons to be Christians. In fact, it is difficult to see from their view of the Trinity that any Christian church would consider them to be Christian. For many of us that doesn't matter, and as you can see below the Catholic clergy certainly have a somewhat open view of Mormons as they do of other religious faiths. But are they considered Christian? No. And, by the way, the Mormon church is not officially opposed to all abortion. Unless, of course, they have recently changed their minds. They seem to do that a lot. Hence...the mittster.

"Would Mormons fit into the Protestant category or are they a separate religion altogether?
While the Catholic Church would reject nothing that is true or good in Mormonism or any other world religion, Catholic theology would have to note that there is a tremendous amount in Mormonism that is neither true nor good. Further, because Mormonism presents itself as a form of Christianity yet is incompatible with the historic Christian faith, sound pastoral practice would need to warn the Christian faithful: Mormon theology is blasphemous, polytheistic, and cannot be considered on par with the theology of other Christian groups.

Is Mormonism a path to eternal salvation?
CCC 1260: "Since Christ died for all, and since all men are in fact called to one and the same destiny, which is divine, we must hold that the Holy Spirit offers to all the possibility of being made partakers, in a way known to God, of the Paschal mystery."63 Every man who is ignorant of the Gospel of Christ and of his Church, but seeks the truth and does the will of God in accordance with his understanding of it, can be saved. It may be supposed that such persons would have desired Baptism explicitly if they had known its necessity."
http://www.ewtn.com/library/Theology/MORMBAP1.HTM
"II. The Form. We have seen that in the texts of the Magisterium on Baptism there is a reference to the invocation of the Trinity (to the sources already mentioned, the Fourth Lateran Council could be added here [DH 8021). The formula used by the Mormons might seem at first sight to be a Trinitarian formula. The text states: "Being commissioned by Jesus Christ, I baptize you in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit" (cf. D&C 20 3). The similarities with the formula used by the Catholic Church are at first sight obvious, but in reality they are only apparent. There is not in fact a fundamental doctrinal agreement. There is not a true invocation of the Trinity because the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, according to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, are not the three persons in which subsists the one Godhead, but three gods who form one divinity. One is different from the other, even though they exist in perfect harmony (Joseph F. Smith, ed., Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith [TPJSI, Salt Lake City: Desert Book, 1976, p. 372). The very word divinity has only a functional, not a substantial content, because the divinity originates when the three gods decided to unite and form the divinity to bring about human salvation (Encyclopaedia of Mormonism [EM], New York: Macmillan, 1992, cf. Vol. 2, p. 552). This divinity and man share the same nature and they are substantially equal. God the Father is an exalted man, native of another planet, who has acquired his divine status through a death similar to that of human beings, the necessary way to divinization (cf. TPJS, pp. 345-346). God the Father has relatives and this is explained by the doctrine of infinite regression of the gods who initially were mortal (cf. TPJS, p. 373). God the Father has a wife, the Heavenly Mother, with whom he shares the responsibility of creation. They procreate sons in the spiritual world. Their firstborn is Jesus Christ, equal to all men, who has acquired his divinity in a pre-mortal existence. Even the Holy Spirit is the son of heavenly parents. The Son and the Holy Spirit were procreated after the beginning of the creation of the world known to us (cf. EM, Vol. 2, p. 961). Four gods are directly responsible for the universe, three of whom have established a covenant and thus form the divinity.
As is easily seen, to the similarity of titles there does not correspond in any way a doctrinal content which can lead to the Christian doctrine of the Trinity. The words Father, Son and Holy Spirit, have for the Mormons a meaning totally different from the Christian meaning. The differences are so great that one cannot even consider that this doctrine is a heresy which emerged out of a false understanding of the Christian doctrine. The teaching of the Mormons has a completely different matrix. We do not find ourselves, therefore, before the case of the validity of Baptism administered by heretics, affirmed already from the first Christian centuries, nor of Baptism conferred in non-Catholic ecclesial communities, as noted in Canon 869 §2.
.......
Difference of views: Mormons hold that there is no real Trinity, no original sin, that Christ did not institute baptism
Summing up, we can say: The Baptism of the Catholic Church and that of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints differ essentially, both for what concerns faith in the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, in whose name Baptism is conferred, and for what concerns the relationship to Christ who instituted it. As a result of all this, it is understood that the Catholic Church has to consider invalid, that is to say, cannot consider true Baptism, the rite given that name by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints.
It is equally necessary to underline that the decision of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith is a response to a particular question regarding the Baptism of Mormons and obviously does not indicate a judgment on those who are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Furthermore, Catholics and Mormons often find themselves working together on a range of problems regarding the common good of the entire human race. It can be hoped therefore that through further studies, dialogue and good will, there can be progress in reciprocal understanding and mutual respect."
