'Be respectful,' mother tells son outside Bernie Sanders rally in Michigan

ALLENDALE, MI – Near the back of a long line of people waiting to see Bernie Sanders, Sam Sullivan sported a homemade "Feel the Burn!" t-shirt and talked excitedly about a presidential campaign that, as a 10-year-old, he has no say in.

Except maybe a few utterances about "Tronald Dump."

"Be respectful," his mother, Sarah Kozminski, told him.

Not that she disagrees.

A couple thousand people are inside the fieldhouse on Grand Valley State University's Allendale campus – with perhaps that many still waiting in line outside – in advance of a 7:30 p.m. rally for Bernie Sanders, the Democratic presidential candidate who has positioned himself as an alternative to his party's frontrunner the way no Republican has done to Donald Trump.

"I feel like he's just going to change the world and get rid of the dirty politics," said Kozminksi, Sam's mother, who works at GVSU and likes the idea of increasing the minimum wage and ensuring access to abortion, and finds Democratic frontrunner Hillary Clinton too closely tied to VIP donors.
