2016 Postmortem

Did anyone catch the focus group that Fox had on after their Town Hall tonight?
For me, the most interesting part was @5:40 when Frank Luntz seems surprised that the group is more thoughtful than the groups of Republicans they've had on.

Focus group member: Stark contrast between what we've seen on the other side and what we've seen on the Democratic side, full of substance.
Frank Luntz: And, I have to tell you all that it is a stark contrast, that you all in your participation, you're thoughtful, you're less emotional. You're very thoughtful. And, it's something we have not seen enough of and I'm glad that we had the chance, Megyn, to bring it to your viewers tonight . . .

(24,411 posts)One voter said it was "really powerful" when Bernie Sanders said that "being a human being" made him believe in healthcare as a human right.
"I think it would echo what Pope Francis has been saying about how we need to take care of people more. Instead of building walls we need to build bridges," he said.
Another voter chimed in, saying that Bernie has "the human touch."
"As much as I want to believe Hillary, every time she speaks I'm like 'Yes, yes, Hillary, you're qualified, we know that, but you're lacking that empathy that the Bernie followers feel when he speaks,'" she said.
Another Democrat in the group said: "It just goes along with the trust aspect that Bernie has."
Watch the wide-ranging reactions above and additional highlights from the town hall below.
Yes, overall I was impressed with the job Fox did on the Town Hall and who they selected for the Focus Group.
It feels very odd saying that, but I guess I was expecting a big, old mess, and that's not what we got.

(5,128 posts)Am I confused?
If not, truly do dislike him, if correct I think I'm trending towards hate. Dislike just not quite strong enough.
Edit. It was not Frank. So staying with dislike alot!
It was David Frum. Hate that guy.

(50,130 posts)...vote for.
They all hollered "BERNIE!" And he was stunned.

(570 posts)I wondered if it had anything to do with the potential "crossover" vote we've heard about anecdotally -- the Republicans (aka Fox viewers) who prefer Sanders to Clinton.

(16,373 posts)It must have been quite an education for normal Fox viewers. I must say I was blown away by how professionally the town hall was done. No ringers asking questions, and fair questions from the moderator. And I don't think any other network has had a post debate/town hall focus group.
There's another debate on CNN Wednesday, I believe.

(51,076 posts)and Bernie was getting applause throughout the question and answer session where Hill not so much. A few times she did but not like Bernie did. This on fox noise even, I couldn't hardly believe my ears.

(898 posts)I never thought I'd compliment FOX, but they did a good job today with the Town Hall and now the focus group. I hope many, many people in Michigan watched the Town Hall.
Edited to ad: I can't watch Hillary, for me it's like watching the Republicans.

Luntz was literally censured by the National Council on Public Polls for mischaracterizing the results of his focus groups,he picks his focus groups based on desired results, which should probably tell Sanders supporters something.
