2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumHas Hillary had a huge win in a blue state?
She wins huge in the Dem primaries in the red states that Dems will not win in the GE, like Mississippi. But what about the blue states?
Point is: in the GE Dems are gonna need the Indies. Bernie gets those votes. Hillary doesn't. With the SCOTUS up for grabs it is too risky to run a loser.

(25,699 posts)Remember back before February, when Clinton supporters were stomping around declaring that Iowa and New Hampshire "don't count!!!" How shitty was that? I thought it was pretty shitty. I see no reason to pull the same act towards other states.
Every vote counts.
Unless you're on the West Coast like me, of course. Bleh.

(17,438 posts)Having lived in GA for the past 16 years that no Dem is going to win here in the GE.
I want a candidate who can win the whole shebang, not just the Dem nomination.

(13,871 posts)I remember that it was very late before they could declare that Obama had lost GA in 2008, and that Obama won nearby NC that night. Georgia is the most likely of the Deep South states (SC to LA) to go Dem.

(8,352 posts)And that bodes ill for the GE. Sanders can win against any Republican without any of the southern red states that have gone for Clinton magically turning blue.
Clinton, on the other hand, can not win against any Republican without the majority of voters in states that have gone for Sanders or were virtual ties.
Penny smart - pound foolish is my mantra for this campaign season.

(9,527 posts)That doesn't mean they won't win it in the general election right?
This is a really silly talking point as there's no consistent direct correlation. It's not like Sanders would lose Massachusetts or win Kansas for example.
Vote2016
(1,198 posts)With Clinton supporters trying to close down the primary based on a few wins primarily limited to a single region that poorly represents Democratic values before most of America gets to vote, we need more people pointing out that Hillary hasn't been vetted by the voters in a majority of the states yet!
No one is saying Mississippi doesn't get a vote, but let's not pretend that winning Mississippi gets you a pass from having to compete in the rest of the US.

(50,559 posts)Hillary is doing better in large states than small ones; Bernie hasn't won any big states and Hillary has only won one small one. Unfortunately, up to now all the large states that have run primaries or caucuses have been in the South.
Tonight answers two important questions: can Bernie win in a large state, and can Hillary win big in a blue one?

(6,719 posts)She will probably get NY, a mixed scene in CA. I do not want her to be the nominee but I think she probably will be. We need to figure out how to continue the Bernie themes and get the platform to include these things which we think are important. Gonna be hard but tis possible. Or at least the hope part of me wants it to be possible.
