Why is it not a huge story that Jesse Jackson supports Sanders?

His son the reverend has been introducing Sanders, but Jackson also appeared together with him at this extremely supportive Chicago event this morning:

See from 45:00 here:
http://rainbowpush.org/pages/saturday_morning_forum

EDITED: Title to change "endorsement" to support. Jackson Sr. has not endorsed "officially," but his son and organization are backing Sanders actively and were doing so again today.

I must've missed that. I know they met today and Hillary declined because of scheduling conflicts. But I wasn't aware that Jackson had endorsed Sanders.

I didn't see any endorsement at all. And Hillary is speaking with him similarly next week I think.

artful smear and meme about Sanders and AA's.

If focused on too much, we might also learn that Sanders in turn endorsed Jackson in 1988. Now that would be giving weight to the truth that Sanders has stood for and beside AA's for decades. We can not have that truth in the wild.

It is now March. His son spoke at his Chicago rallies. Watch the actual video from his Rainbow Coalition website before trying to 'correct the record.'

His son has endorsed him and that is a big deal. I wish more was being said about that, and what I said still applies to him as well.

after the glowing write-ups that his campaign quoted from newspapers that were misinterpreted as official endorsements, everyone's erring on the side of caution now. I mean, a reasonable person would have thought "you can trust Bernie because he doesn’t owe his political career to the financial overlords” was an endorsement.

Until a person says "I endorse Bernie Sanders for president" in those words, I'm thinking nobody from his campaign is going to go on record claiming it's an endorsement.

His son introduces Sanders at rallies, Jackson shows full support for Sanders in a public forum days before the Illinois primary, but no press release says it. Things like this sure are drumming up support for Sanders. (Watch from 45:00).

http://rainbowpush.org/pages/saturday_morning_forum

Maybe there was one with Clinton? Not that I see, here is the only mention of Clinton on the PUSH site in the last month:

http://rainbowpush.org/commentaries/single/rebuild_americas_infrastructure

She is criticized for having a low number for her infrastructure budget (275 bn) - lower than Obama's proposal. Even Sanders is criticized for not being enough (1 trillion).

That's it.

But yeah, that's what it looks like. One damn press release is all that's missing, even as the support goes to Sanders. The difference is it would generate headlines.

The only thing he endorsed was getting out and making sure to vote. Did you hear him say Clinton would be at RP on Monday?

I think his core values align more with Sanders but he did not endorse him for the primary & just because you meet with someone to present him to your coalition isn't a silent endorsement

He does state that he was looking for both dem candidates to bring a discussion relevant to the coalition . Sanders did well as did Jackson . Inspiring dialogue

I think support is a warranted term, given this appearance, the treatment of Sanders as opposed to Clinton on the PUSH site, and that his son Jonathan (who is the national PUSH spokesperson) has endorsed him and introduces Sanders at events.

Also, this:

http://www.cbsnews.com/videos/jesse-jackson-sanders-is-running-crusade-clinton-is-running-campaign/

But you and others are right. No endorsement from Jesse Sr.

I watched the video from today. I think his son Jonathan, who introduced him at Chicago State University a week or two ago, has endorsed Bernie. Jesse was very supportive of Bernie today but said that Hillary would be there on Monday. It appears that he is staying neutral.

given that he's the PUSH national spokesperson, his father's discussion with Sanders today and other statements are the closest to an endorsing non-endorsement ever.
