2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumEver notice the lack of discussion about Hillary's positions?
I often see threads criticizing Bernie on positions he puts out. But rarely see this regarding Hillary.
I think that's because Bernie actually puts out clear positions that CAN be discussed, whereas Hillary puts out "impressions", and those keep changing, to mimic positions Bernie has been at for decades.

(5,345 posts)Every problem has its roots with Wall Street.
Every solution will be solved by taxing Wall Street.
Any problem that can't be solved by taxing Wall Street can be solved by taxing everyone else!!
That's about as deep as it gets.

(643 posts)I attended his rally here in Charlotte yesterday. He covered everything listed there and then some. Don't you love how the HRC supporters just buy into the one issue thing and keep regurgitating it?

(15,673 posts)That says volumes in itself. Third-wayers have really done a number on the Democratic Party -- and the middle class at the same time. You've had your chances. At most, all you've done outside the social issue arena is slow down the economic decline of the middle class in comparison to where the GOP would take it. Hillary's background, history and experience does nothing to assure her presidency won't just be more of the same. That's not good enough. Time to move on. If that's portraying Hillary as worse than Genghis Khan, sorry you feel that way.

They have have no arguments in favor of her -- but spend their time building straw men to knock over.

(24,979 posts)"Sexist" failed, "racist" failed, "mean" failed, now all critique of HRC of any kind is fully manufactured VRWC. An important part of this is that NOTHING must ever be specified or they'll get bogged down having to defend specifics.

(5,213 posts)just so she could stand side-by-side with noted AIDs activist Nancy Reagan! How dare people have the effrontery to bring up her policy positions, don't they understand how much she has sacrificed?

(11,014 posts)There is nothing good to say about Bernie because everyone knows he cannot enact even 0.001% of all the promises he is making. They didn't fool astute voters.
All that is left is BENGAAAAZZZZZZZZZZIIIIIIIIIIII, this time from Sanders supporters. Some have even gone to rehash Vince Foster, Travelgate, Watergate, Gennifer Flowers and other RW memes. Oh -- and the "indictment is around the corner" which has no hope and prayer.
When Bernie loses and his supporters have had a time to reflect, all those attacks against Hillary and her supporters on the web will be the only haunting legacy of Bernie's life. That sucks but that is how history is written.

(146,345 posts)Many have tried. The results have led others to simply not bother.
As for me, I'm not campaigning for Hillary during the primaries. I support her, but am not involving myself in arguments about it. It's not my thing. After the convention, I'll be supporting the Democratic nominee. I don't get personally involved in primary races within the party.
If you ask me who I support, I'll tell you it's Hillary Clinton, though. I believe everyone here is capable of looking up candidate's positions without my assistance.

Hillary's energy plan allows for continued fossil energy giveaways from public lands, no carbon tax.
Not much to talk about that's why she gives policy specifics quick mention and then goes into attack Santa Clause Bernie gear, and screw all you "deadbeats" language.

(24,979 posts)If you parse through the bullshit, she's got a number of pretty clear positions that dare not be spoken:
Wall Street will not be regulated seriously. Fracking and drilling will continue. Campaign finance reform and further health care changes will go under in a sea of blah-blah. The trade deals will be let through after cosmetic shows of "tweaking." No further opening to Iran or Cuba (if she'd been president neither would have happened). Confrontation with Russia. Neocons running the empire positions in her cabinet. Neoliberals running the domestic posts.
