Bernie has done something wonderfull & brave-Let us all thank him.

And then move on to the general.

Because I believe a great deal of Bernie's message can no longer be ignored. He worked so hard I can not imagine how he summoned the strength.

I've been a fan of Bernie since the Thom Hartman program when he had him on Fridays. I have always wholeheartedly agreed with his ideas and longed for the ability to actually put them into action.

That there is the rub. In the past when President FDR wanted to accomplish the needed reforms that saved the USA-He had a packed house & congress-and the courts.

He basically had a bully pulpit & that is how he got it done.

Bernie has done more than I ever thought possible. And that is making the damage done to the average American worker a actual daily topic that even the moronic cable news can not ignore. What used to be solely discussed on boards like this is now a front burner issue.

-----

And I trust Hillary to carry the message as she also has been forced to realize it is a concern that can no longer be ignored.
She has the grace and knowledge to promote the USA in a positive manner. That is something that can not be said for the other side.

And to be honest-I do not think Bernie would be taken seriously despite his ground base support. Every manner of hissy fit would ensue & the possibility of anything getting done-Nil.

-----

For heavens sake I know it is not "over" yet but lets on the same side. This is a huuuuge move forward in the conversation on how to get Americans prosperous & employed. How to end the siphon Wall Street has had in place for so long. This & so many more real challenges we need to confront he has placed a spotlight on them.

Will you forget tomorrow or over the years-I don't think so. What he has done already is a monumental feat I did not think possible. We have lost almost every effective form of communication and Bernie moved the conversation in a PERMANENT manner.

Thanks Bernie!

Sicne April of last year, I have been getting told that I am a white supremacist because I support a Jewish candidate. I have been told my opinion and positions are worthless, fantasy. I have been told that since I am not supporting Clinton it must mean I hate women. The women I love - my mother, my sister, my girlfriend - have been reduced to nothing more than hell-bound groupies. I have been spit on, shit on, and subjected to some amazingly ugly attacks. I have seen my friends told they are not dark-skinned enough to be "people of color" and that they cannot be Jewish, or Latino, or black, because they do not support Clinton. My candidate has been subject to worse, from antisemitic posts from Jew-hating people right here on DU - posts and posters the admin happily allow to remain - all the way down to Candidate Clinton herself insisting he supported disappearing people like the regimes of banana republics.

It's not over. And we are not friends. Don't try to blow smoke up my ass.

and his voice. Bernie has made history (will continue to do so) and pretty much destroyed the stigma of the "socialist" label. And that's just for starters. I would have been happy to support, contribute to, and vote for a President Sanders.

I repeat myself. I'm happy my candidate is moving forward, but it's in no way, for me at least, a statement against Bernie.

I have become less comfortable with the prospect of a man with extremist personality traits as president, but overall he's only about a thousand times better than any of the choices on the right and he basically is running on the same things I want. Some of them anyway, and he would be forced to address others in office no doubt.

The race for the nomination is not yet over.
I have not seen a concession speech as of yet.

The words, as kind as they may be at the moment feels misplaced and means to erode the enthusiasm of other supporters. At the moment, I'd wait for such finalities till things are actually over, much like I fear some just abandoning ship now.

Hillary has had a good night. I await to see the other states.

at the convention, even if they're a minority, his delegates can have some say in drafting the party platform and Sen. Sanders can get some prime speaking time.

he's building a movement for genuine economic progressivism. if we want that movement to stay within the Democratic party (and i think most of us here do) then it's very important he continue his campaign.

the contest between Clinton and Sanders is pretty much the ONLY reason the Democrats are getting any coverage during primary season. personally, i don't have any interest in seeing Trump & his vile sycophants suck up any more of the precious media oxygen than they already do. keeping that primary horse race going helps Democrats stay involved at a time when the media would love to cover Trump 24/7 and drop a total blackout on Democratic candidates.

Therapists know how to bring people with race-based syndromes to rationality. Why not look up techniques? They always involve getting to know people. How about starting with a couple of good biographies? Maybe "Hillary's Turn"? It's enjoyable reading. You would end up knowing a lot more about New York politics then you cared to perhaps, but it shows her in political context running for senator, no puff piece, but the right-wing hate-filled miasma that surrounds her name is itself examined as it affects political events.

I don't. I can't. I don't worry about Secretary Clinton as I would about Cruz, Trump, etc. She would, I think, be a credible president. She's smart, and she's pretty tough and could handle the job, and I can't say the same about any of the Republican "alternatives".

The problem I have with her is that she is the quintessential candidate of conventional wisdom; that is, all of the things that we just know are true about how the world really works. Conventional wisdom is largely true because we're told how true it is, incessantly, by the Very Smart People of DC, Wall Street, academia, Quai d'Orsay, Whitehall, Kasumigaseki - and because they're right a fair amount of the time.

Until suddenly it's not true any more. When that day comes, and it will likely be because of a combination of big financial problems and a rapidly unraveling global environment, I have substantial doubts that she or those she surrounds herself with will suddenly find unconventional wisdom.

Until that day - and it may not arrive on her watch - nothing really changes. I'm expecting the same old same old - "Here's a couple of targeted tax cuts! Here's some job training money to last until your H1B replacements arrive! Here's a health savings account!"

Meanwhile, more smoking holes blown in the desert, more leaking holes drilled in the sea floor, more digital holes bored through cities and neighborhoods and lives where rootless, unaccountable money moved through in great quantity and at high speed while searching for "exciting new global opportunities."

Not what I'd hoped for, not what we need.

I could be wrong. But I doubt it.

Bernie has done more for the progressive cause than anyone has in my lifetime. The electorate with whom his message has resonated, myself included, has already made its case with the Democratic party, and I, like you, expect that Hillary will carry the torch. She is far from perfect, but she has become a better candidate because of this campaign. Something odd happened: As this campaign has moved forward, I have grown more fond of *both* candidates.

So, I am disappointed. But I am also incredibly hopeful and optimistic. The Democratic party has become more progressive, and though it will be incremental, progress is progress.

We won't see another candidate like Bernie, the establishment has now become aware of the left populist threat and will proactively move to to strangle it in the cradle.

I never gave Bernie more than a 25% chance of getting the nomination anyway and the chances of another left populist candidate are now headed towards zero.

Sanders is going into the convention with more than 1/3rd of the delegates. Everything in his platform will be in the Democratic Party Platform. Easily. Trivially. I'm proud my state went for Sanders and my delegates are likely going to be putting marijuana legalization in there (it helps that a dozen states will have marijuana on the ballot in November; imagine the turnout if Clinton comes out for it, just imagine). What are Clinton delegates going to do? Vote against Sanders' progressive policies at the convention? Do you know how insane that would be? They'll add it in.

This means if Clinton abandons the platform and runs on her own agenda (not terribly far off from Sanders in many respects) then those voters who voted for Sanders will 1) not elect her and 2) if she gets elected won't re-elect her or will primary her. She's no fool on that count.

I think I actually pegged Sanders at closer to 40%, but I was never under any illusion he was ahead at any point in the process.

If what Clinton wants to do was so much like Bernie in the first place she would never have had to evolve so much so fast.

I don't buy it for a moment, Hillary came in with an agenda geared to the benefit of her and her peers and I have little doubt that is the agenda she will pursue if elected. Now they know lies are fine with the electorate we will be hearing many, many more.

Weapons of Mass Distraction, the elite has them.
