Don't give up on Bernie

Not a good day yesterday but please don't give up on Bernie. Even if he doesn't win the nomination it is important that he go all the way to the convention. Bernie is bringing up important issues that need attention. That's why he needs to stay in.

3. You lot REALLY want Bernie voters to ditch Hillary in November, don't you?

Keep up the condescension, gloating, and snark: you're getting what you want.

And the recriminations on Nov 8th will be absolutely nuclear...

If someone is so self absorbed that they would refuse to cast a vote against Donald Trump because their feelings were hurt on an internet message board by supporters of another candidate... then what can be said really?

But when the alternative is also an awful choice (at least for someone with far-left political priorities), it doesn't take much to push someone to just say "fuck it." Won't matter in the least in my case: no real chance my state's in play in November.

Incremental political victories matter. Hillary may not be a perfect progressive candidate but the difference between her and the GOP is rather extreme despite her mis-characterization by the Sanders crowd here on DU.

He needed to make it through the double Super Tuesday southern firewall that was deliberately created a few decades ago to favor conservative, establishment-chosen candidates and shut out the rest.

He made it through with enough delegates to remain viable. He limited Hillary's gains more than expected.

The Michigan stunner was awesome, but did lead to some raised hopes that weren't quite met. That's not a bad day; that's a normal one.

The primary map now turns very blue and increasingly favors Bernie. Look to him to start cutting into Hillary's lead going forward. This is a marathon, not a sprint. We've made it up a long, steep hill through incredibly stiff headwinds; we're over the crest and going forward the going gets better, with the wind at our backs.

So take a day to rest, and then it's back to work. Ignore those who would declare victory prematurely and claim the race ended yesterday; most paths to Bernie's lead converge on June 7. That was true a month ago, and it's true today.
