Related: About this forumTheory: Clinton gets indicted; Biden jumps in; Sanders flips out
As much as people are hoping for GOP contested convention it might actually be Dems where this happens. Clinton bows out if indicted, Biden comes in to save the day, Sanders loses majority of Clinton delegates on first round of voting, and establishment backs Biden leading to uproar by Sanders supporters. Could explain why Biden didn't jump in. This way he acts like statesman, and it doesn't look like Obama for his justice dept to get rid of his buddies rival.
Then again I don't see Hillary stepping aside even in the case of conviction.

(751 posts)Is 0%? Whenever there is investigation there is possibility of indictment.
Even if you say there is 5% chance if indictment, what do you think happens? Scenario I laid out is most likely outcome.
In mind there is high probability Clinton broke laws. Indictment is unlikely because the rich and powerful play by different standards.

(50,130 posts)Clinton steps down, O'Malley reenters the race against Bernie. They end with a coalition and raise hell against Trump. Bernie and O'Malley. That puts O'Malley in position for three terms total.

(4,377 posts)Purely because she supported a different candidate to the establishment favorite. That kind of attitude is everything that's wrong in the party, and a huge part of the reason why we don't believe it for a second when we're told we should be changing the party from the bottom up.

(27,445 posts)Clinton did what her predecessors did. It was not illegal at the time. She hasn't been indicted because there is zero chance of a conviction.
The rules governing communication haven't really caught up with the technology. I'm sure the bureaucracy is working on new rules and maybe in a few years they'll figure it out.

(12,081 posts)very classified company projects. He would have been fired and sued if he had ever used private email for sensitive information. The fact that high level government staff are special and get to do whatever they want is no excuse. They can't possibly think that the Russians or Chinese or many other countries aren't constantly trying to hack their email. They whole everybody does it excuse is no excuse.

(27,445 posts)I'm sure it's guidelines and rules governing communication are pretty clear. The government buracracy takes much longer to catch up.
I have a good friend who worked for the DoD. He said the rules regarding communications haven't caught up with the technology by a long shot. You can't really indict someone for not following rules that weren't in place at the time.
Hopefully, this will bring about the needed changes.

that after recognizing a candidate can't get attract anywhere close to a majority of Democratic voters that his supporters spend their time wishing for an indictment of Clinton in order to overturn the will of the people.
She isn't going to be indicted. Karl Rove, Fox, and "progressives" will just have to accept reality.
I'm sorry people have so little respect for the democratic will of Democratic voters, but given what else I've seen in this campaign I would expect nothing else.

They know what is best for the country and everyone else should bow down and accept their view. If not, they will put a pox on your house or stick pins a doll shaped like you.
They are the only ones with a righteous view and the millions who voted for Hillary were gullible, stupid and uninformed.
They are the only arbiters of truth and morality.
The world has seen this before too many times, every time with a horrible result.

(761 posts)She either gets indicted before the convention or it's impeachment hearings 24/7/365 in 2017. You don't think a GOP controlled House won't start impeachment hearings as soon as they have pretext to do so?

If Hillary is indicted, if sufficiently before the convention, Bernie will get nominated. If after the convention, her VP choice will move into her place, a new VP will be selected, and all will proceed.
If Bernie gets nominated, then Hillary is indicted, then oh, gosh, too bad, but it won't make much of a difference to the national campaign.
If Hillary remains in the lead and the entire email thing blows over, then try as the Republicans will, this will be a total non issue. In fact, if it plays out that way (Hillary is the nominee, no email indictment) and they try to make hay out of the email thing, boy will they lose big time.
There is a genuine danger that Hillary is nominated, then gets indicted, and all hell breaks loose. I hope that is not the scenario.
I will state that I'm a very strong Bernie supporter, so for many, mostly obvious, reasons, I hope he is nominated. But even though I honestly think there is something in the whole email thing, I am not one who thinks that will take Hillary down. I see it as a relatively trivial issue, and I sincerely hope that the nomination goes to the person with the most delegates in the end.
