When the former Secretary of State calls for lifting the Cuban embargo Friday, shell be the first major presidential candidate to go to Miami and forcefully advocate for engagement.

When Hillary Clinton calls on Congress to lift the Cuban embargo, shell try to make history in two ways Friday: shell be the first presidential candidate to make the demand in the heart of Miamis Cuban-exile community and shell be exorcising a political ghost from her familys past.
It was her husband, President Bill Clinton, who signed the embargo into federal statute in the first place.
At the time, in 1996, the president faced re-election. He desperately wanted to win Florida, as it started to emerge as the nations most-crucial swing state. And early on that year, Cuba became a major flashpoint when Fidel Castros regime shot down two Brothers to the Rescue rafter-aid group airplanes over international waters, killing four activists from Miami. The exile community erupted.
Politically speaking, the president felt he had little choice. He had to sign what was known as the Helms-Burton Act.

They ALL pander to the CANF with "get tough on Castro" BS. Even Prez O did that.
No matter that, I hope it will happen.

Is there anything the Clintons do that is not meant to score political points? Is there any courage to stand up for the right thing even if might bring them down in the polls?
Oy gevalt!
