That could take an approach of cooperation and my first thought was about how the Coast Salish have been connecting across the border to work together on environmental issues and how Bernie could work with them on it.

So glad to see this.

(16,881 posts)as I know you do, sufragette.
The alternative to cooperation is conflict, whether it is with other people or by poisoning our environmental homes.

Tribal representatives from both sides of the border spoke in unified opposition today against oil giant Kinder Morgans proposed oil pipeline.
~~~
Tulalip councilwoman Deborah Parker said she hoped the protest would be a day for healing.
Really my hopes are that the NEB and Kinder Morgan will hear our words. and I know they will be some pretty powerful words, she said. The words need to keep coming forward so were not living in this fear and in as much pain we have been.
I hope today is not only a day to hear and to listen, but a day to heal.
Coast Salish peoples are the indigenous people of the Pacific Northwest, and have traditionally lived along the coasts of Oregon and Washington in the United States, and in British Columbia, Canada.
Diane Millich, a member of the Southern Ute Indian Tribe in Colorado, opened the event and introduced Vice President Biden, sharing her story which has been a focus of national media attention since May of last year, and most recently in a New York Times article. Deborah Parker of the Tulalip Tribe of Washington, an active and prominent voice in the VAWA advocacy efforts alongside the NCAI Task Force, also stood on stage during the signing of VAWA.
It's a shame since it seems a lot of ad hoc efforts don't bother with any web presence beyond Facebook.
(8,554 posts)With every new report that comes out here about the failing Salmon runs and poisons found embedded in the flesh of Washington's most precious native or about the putrid pollution that fouls the waters flowing thru (and surrounding) our state, the lack of attention that's been paid to the most dire threat this planet faces should be highly noticeable.
Senator Sanders has addressed sustainability...he alone...he truly cares and he always has cared.
suffragette
He cares about us. He acknowledges us. That's why we have this sign here, "Ndns for Justice." I care that somebody acknowledges us."
Focus is on the goofy, happy dance guy, but look to the right to see strong contingent of Coast Salish. In fact, there's quite a bit of diversity throughout that close up of the crowd.
