Related: About this forumTired of Votes Being Stolen! We Need To Demand Paper Ballots/Manual Counting
If I could put up a # on Twitter and call it demand paper ballots I would. Just don't know how to start one. We need to go back to paper ballots and manual counts with objective viewers or viewers and lawyers from both sides.
There are too many including in my town who are discovering that their party affiliation is changed on their vote status or they are not found in the system. We must all check several times before we vote to make sure of our status. I'm calling this morning.
The machines both the vote machines and the tabulators can be coded and there is no paper trail to make sure our votes are not flipped or deleted.
We must demand by social media and press the MSM that we have paper ballots and manual counts. It's the way it used to be and it is verifiable.
***Just talked to my election office. I am okay. I did ask if the tabulators (we vote by mail) are owned and operated by a private company and he said yes all over the state. I told him there is an expert online that explains that these machines can be coded to flip or delete votes. He said oh I never heard of that one. I told him that people are reporting they have either the wrong party or are not in the system and are long time voters. He poo poo'd that until I said there is a lady on my FB who called you (really him as there is only two people who work in that office and one is a woman) because she found out online she did not exist and I said to him and you told her you would investigate it and get back to her....crickets....crickets....I said to expect lots of calls as it is on Twitter and FB of people who are going to be checking their vote status. He said he already had over 500 new registration cards to process this morning....I said well expect to be very busy. He said thanks for the heads up.

Hillary cheating. I volunteer.

(5,792 posts)"all through the state" I thought our Gov just endorsed Hillary for President. So I called the office and told them of my concern with coded private company tabulators and I wished the Governor would have waited to endorse. Not right after the fiasco in AZ......I did however state that I did not think our state was going to be rigged for Hillary but the perception of her endorsement I thought was ill timed.

Since its founding in 2003 by Stanford computer science professor David L. Dill, the Verified Voting Foundation has worked at the local, state, and federal levels to ensure that all votes in U.S. elections are cast and counted accurately. By bringing national attention to the need for publicly verifiable voting systems, VVF gives voice to both scientists and concerned citizens who are concerned about the challenge that paperless electronic voting presents to the ongoing integrity of elections. VVF stakeholders share a desire that technologies be employed in ways that enhance, rather than compromise, the trustworthiness of our electoral process.

(94,520 posts)I have no objection with the principle; but I hate the laziness. What have you folks ever done to get it implemented? Talked to your Governor? Your Party District leader? Your County Board of Elections? All I see are online rants, with no follow-through. If you're organized enough to get Bernie's Presidential campaign up and running, why is this so hard?
And, as for "experts online"; I'll stick with the people that really care. No elected official, Party Boss or Campaign Manager I've talked to says they've ever lost an election because of electronic vote flipping. In the era of electronic voting machines, Republicans have one three (2004, 2010, 2014) and we've won three (2006, 2008, 2012). That's the statistical equivalent of a coin flip.

(45,319 posts)available. Can't flip a vote here. It's on paper. The video voting with flip potential is not a concern here, to our Governor nor to any voter unless we are looking after our friends in Atari voting States and those who stand in line for five hours. We don't stand in line either.
Since Oregon has done well with vote by mail, other States have started using that method and others are moving toward it. Embarrassing displays like we saw in Arizona will motivate more people to seek easier and more secure voting methods.
Trying to make such issues about specific candidates is insanely reductive. In November many Democrats will again be on Arizona ballots and the problems they had yesterday have been going on for years. It's not at all just nor is it for Bernie to deal with or just the Native Tribes but it should be something we are all bothered by when elections are not accessible, secure and also trusted. Trust is a very very important element in participatory Democracy.

(94,520 posts)When you go to vote, your ballot is deposited under your view and that of the election workers and poll watchers. When you mail your ballot in, it's handled by a third party, and it's processing isn't being inspected by anyone from the campaign
