2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumMore and more people are becoming aware of how screwed we the 99% are with no help
to be expected from anyone on the political horizon, besides Bernie Sanders.
We have allowed the party of the people to devolve into a co-conspirator that would have us all as slave labor feeding the wealthy, a country where those that have nothing to contribute to the wealth of the few are left to perish as useless eaters. A country where bloody empire for the profit of an out of control military industry and a thriving new mercenary industry are gorged on the blood of those that are no threat to us in any military sense. A modern form of feudalism that is developing before our eyes. Chief among the origins of this neo-feudalistic dystopia are the Clintons and their legacy complete with an heir apparent of that legacy that espouses a foreign policy vision that appears as if born the bastard son of Bush and Kissinger doctrines.
Without a party to protect us from the unwavering desire of some to re-create this nation as a neo-feudal fascism, it's rebirth will continue unabated on it's course toward the neo-feudal goal. With environmental disaster looming closely at our heels, there is little time left to regain a party that has brought us to this state, fighting for such revolutionary change as a rebirth of a party of the people as envisioned by Sanders and a few others, the loss of such a goal may very well be our last breath, our last chance before the worst becomes our permanent, if short lived as a species, death of any hope of survival or Democracy.
The 99% are beginning to see that they are on their own now against the purchased post-partisanship that will lead us to that goal faster or slower, but on the same course, ever rightward ever more cruel and ever more a threat to their well being and happiness.
We are almost there and there appears to be nothing to stop it. Nothing but us and the dream of one of our last true elder statesman. I sometimes ask myself, "how have we come this far down such a destructive and yet predictable path"
I blame us that are on the front of liberal thought for allowing our party to so easily be taken over by the republican castaways that dare claim to be more than what they are, purchased lackeys of the wealthy elite.
I blame myself for allowing myself to be used as shamelessly as any poverty stricken GOP member that would support and vote for what is demonstrably against their best interests and the interests of over 99% of the citizens of this country.
I blame the party faithful for so easily adopting and even cheering well known and deeply damaging right wing policy simply because they follow the party line (policies that they are well educated about and once fought against).
I blame the party itself for being so easily bought and co-opted by the policies of the Heritage Foundation and The Chamber of Commerce simply for a pittance in campaign contributions.
Without a party to oppose the neo-feudalists, what is left to stop them?
What can we do?
What can you do?
What can I do?
We can try to achieve the goals of Bernie Sanders and all he espouses, first by electing him and destroying the corporate cancer within our party. Then, continue this peaceful political revolution that he tells us we can and should have, a revolution we know in our hearts is our last chance.
Or we can lose and with that loss be well and truly fucked.

(388 posts)The Walton family is now worth 150 Billion.
Buffet was worth 1 Billion in 1980, he is now worth 50 Billion.
It isn't just these two billionaires either. Over the last ten years, the billionaires doubled their networth.
The Billionaire class bought everything that wasn't nailed down, now they are buying the nails.
When you buy all the land, the farmland, the water, and finally the politicians, the 99% percent has little to no power, while the rentier class continues to amass political and tangible wealth that can never be challenged unless there is a political revolution.
This level of income inequality will doom us all.

I doubt very seriously you really want to know the answer, judging by your "Reaganomics sounding" talking point, but if you really want to know, listen first hand from him how he intends to help do so.
