Remember when Tad Devine/Kerry campaign LIKED David Brock and Media Matters?

Anybody else here remember 2004 when John Kerry was getting Swiftboated, Devine and campaign were getting killed in the press, and David Brock formed Media Matters to counteract the bullshit? They were relentless in their defense of Kerry...often doing what the campaign shrank from.

Seems like a shitload of Democrats, including the ineffectual Kerry campaign were damn glad to have that man on their side.

David Brock's greatest sin in this campaign? He has correctly noted that Tad Devine does not win Presidental elections.

He's been in the mix since at least Carter II. You'd think someone with the number of failures he has under his belt wouldn't be getting such a large paycheck.

I think Mister Monsanto has been overrated for many years. It's finally being noted. He's Rovian--and he's totally for sale, from the Ukraine to Bolivia to Israel and points in between.

He's not a "true believer." That is why there's dissonance in the actions/messaging of the Sanders campaign.

He is a member of a firm that includes Jim Carville and others--they do a lot of "overseas" work, too. Not sure why people are willing to hire them. I am a strong advocate of the "All politics is local" brand. And nowadays, it IS possible to target an ad to a region--you don't have to do one size fits all national ads.

I think he lacks a moral center, and I also think, when the forensics are done, that he will be faulted for making the authentic inauthentic, to put it as succinctly as I can manage.

which is why he went from saying I am a Dem, to finally admitting he ran as a Dem because of the media and party benefits. Now THAT was honest. And he probably should have said so from the beginning.

I think the campaign around Bernie has done him no favors, and I've said that since the first day I came back to DU. They are getting Bernie's message out, but I doubt that is what Devine was looking to achieve.

And, once published, people like Arianna Huffington took a look in the mirror and swam across the river, too!

Kinda puts paid to all the outrage on "behalf" of Professor Hill, who, by the way, is one of the most respected and professional women I have ever met.
