2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumIf Hillary expects the backing of Bernie's voters in November, then "SHIT HAPPENS"
IS NOT AN ACCEPTABLE FUCKING RESPONSE to Bernie being left off the ballot in D.C.!
If she wins the nominations, SHE WILL INDEED have to answer for these "anomalies", either to those of us now feeling the Bern, or in november to the entire nation in a concession speech TO DONALD TRUMP. Wake up democrats! Don't settle for Clintonian incremental appeasement, American politics are changing dramatically in November, we need to make sure it's a change for the better! The status quo is over, whether we like it or not!

(2,353 posts)Whenever there's a Clinton there is a slimy use of a loophole to do something shady without suffering any consequence. I don't believe for a second she didn't know she was going to be running for President when she started doing the speeches.

(7,018 posts)if anything, are even less honest than she is -- if that's possible. Democracy would
at least be still half-alive. And being half-alive is better than being dead.
It now seems unlikely that either Clinton or Trump would win. Cruz is certainly no
bargain either. Bernie still has the best chances of winning.

(14,177 posts)It is clear they are playing favorites though. Hillary needs to come out and publicly denounce their favoritism even though it's her that is favored maybe especially since she is the one being favored.

You can find plenty of connections. Even between the Clintons and many Republicans.

(7,820 posts)You have a candidate with 100% name recognition who has the entire political and media establishment carrying water for her and pulling every maneuver they can to give her an edge...
And the little known 74yr old Democratic Socialist is making her fight like hell for this thing- to the point where they are resorting to crap like this.
Why? Because he has a message- he has a core- people know and like where he stands and are absolutely furious at a rigged economic and political system actively working against their interests. And many realize the Democratic Party has helped enable that.
If Bernie wins the pledged delegates despite the odds against him and the Superdelegates give the nomination to Hillary- it will rip this party to shreds- possibly for good. You can't screw over half the party and expect them just get over it.

(29 posts)Her dismissive, underhanded supporters will be her undoing.
Even though it's obvious that she's not directing them to do things like this, she needs to be running her campaign as clean as possible to appeal to bernie's base. Delegates and super-delegates be damned, SHE WILL LOSE IN NOVEMBER if she can't capture some of Bernie's magic.

(11,546 posts)People are starving for the truth and for candidates who speak to them like normal people. Candidates who don't sneak around saying one thing to your face and another to people paying over $200,000 to eat with you.

Yes it will! I hope it doesn't come to that. I also hope that most SDs are smarter than Howard Dean, Al Franken and Barney Frank.

(5,530 posts)don't count on his new young enthusiastic followers voting for Hill. She doesn't inspire them. She is content to settle and even start by compromising. Copying Bernie's positions that he's held for decades doesn't wash. I want to vote FOR someone who I admire, not against someone I detest. This is the first time since 1976 I can honestly say, I really like and admire the candidate and his positions. A real Democrat, not a moderate Republican.
dana_b
(11,546 posts)it's not just the young who are saying this. I have a family of one time Dems who refuse to vote for her.

(5,530 posts)The Democratic Party is stabbing us in the heart.
dana_b
(11,546 posts)I do not believe for a minute that it's by mistake. Once, twice.. maybe. But over and over and it's ALWAYS at Bernie's expense?? B.S.!! They are scared because he is starting to win. I read that he will probably take WI and the difference in NY is tightening. The established Dems are scared, Hillary and her campaign are scared and whether they would have you believe it or not, her supporters are scared too. It may be 2008 all over again.
So the Dem party is doing ANYTHING to prevent Bernie from winning. Unfortunately for them, we are getting bigger and stronger.
rickford66
(5,530 posts)If he doesn't win, the country goes down the tubes. Hillary could lose to Trump, but even if she wins, do we need another Republican?
dana_b
(11,546 posts)If she wins, we fight with the Bernie-crats and keep pushing for the things that we are fighting for with his campaign. Things will get tougher because she will try and ignore us. So we HAVE to fight.
If Trump or Cruz win?? Move to one of those islands off of the coast of Canada or Ireland.

(29 posts)But a lot of people definitely are corporations; the only one who tops the Clintons in the regard is Trump himself. Read about her speaking arrangements with UCLA, http://www.cbsnews.com/news/behind-the-scenes-of-hillary-clintons-300000-speech-at-ucla/ and tell me you can honestly disagree. Oh I know, these speeches were given "before she knew she'd be running", my guess is she's been groomed since her college years for this, and she is thoroughly frustrated at having had to wait so long, hence her indignance toward Bernie and his supporters; an annoying rash that she's neglected far too long and now has turned septic.
