The Problem With Hillary Clinton Isnt Just Her Corporate Cash. Its Her Corporate Worldview.

....Very Large Snip....
Hillary Clinton and Goldman Sachs CEO Lloyd Blankfein at the Clinton Global Initiative in 2014. (Reuters / Shannon Stapleton)
......To understand this worldview, one need look no further than the foundation at which Hillary Clinton works and which bears her family name. The mission of the Clinton Foundation can be distilled as follows: There is so much private wealth sloshing around our planet (thanks in very large part to the deregulation and privatization frenzy that Bill Clinton unleashed on the world while president), that every single problem on earth, no matter how large, can be solved by convincing the ultra-rich to do the right things with their loose change. Naturally, the people to convince them to do these fine things are the Clintons, the ultimate relationship brokers and dealmakers, with the help of an entourage of A-list celebrities.
.......Another Very Large Snip......
Sanders and his supporters understand something critical: It wont all be win-win. For any of this to happen, fossil-fuel companies, which have made obscene profits for many decades, will have to start losing. And losing more than just the tax breaks and subsidies that Clinton is promising to cut. They will also have to lose the new drilling and mining leases they want; theyll have to be denied permits for the pipelines and export terminals they very much want to build. They will have to leave trillions of dollars worth of proven fossil-fuel reserves in the ground.
Meanwhile, if solar panels proliferate on rooftops, big power utilities will lose a significant portion of their profits, since their former customers will be in the energy-generation business. This would create opportunities for a more level economy and, ultimately, for lower utility billsbut once again, some powerful interests will have to lose (which is why Warren Buffetts coal-fired utility in Nevada has gone to war against solar).
A president willing to inflict these losses on fossil-fuel companies and their allies needs to be more than just not actively corrupt. That president needs to be up for the fight of the centuryand absolutely clear about which side must win. Looking at the Democratic primary, there can be no doubt about who is best suited to rise to this historic moment.
The good news? He just won Wisconsin. And he isnt following anyones guidelines for good behavior.

(7,830 posts)that rocked me & woke me up & forced me to go beyond headlines to see what was really going on. The party is corrupt, and we need to bring it back to the party of FDR. Quick. For the country, for the planet.

(1,054 posts)For the Bernie supporters, we want corruption out of your government and we'll start at the top with the president and his cabinet since we've got the chance.
We are against the TPP and understand it will take over a million jobs. We are against fracking and it's earth quakes and poison underground rivers that eventually comeout of the ground and destroy wild life as well as our drinking water. We want the biggest corporate crooks held accountable and put in prison. We want to slow climate change and we want health care to not make us bankrupt as soon as an issue crops up even when we have health insurance. We want higher education which is currently so expensive it's a debt most will never be out of in their entire life.
I don't know wth the hillarians are thinking. Serious google problem there. I would bet most of them CANNOT reach their insurance deductible if they had to and so are voting against themselves. And I would bet a whole lot of the jobs lost in Hillary's gold standard TPP will be their own. And they have to deal with the climate disasters just like the rest of us if they keep voting in people who aren't going to try to curve the problem. I seriously don't know wth a clinton supporter is thinking.

(7,830 posts)They are fighting for someone, a myth of someone, rather than seeing who she actually is & who she will be working for. It ain't US. Its beyond frustrating.

(3,431 posts)but she knows as well that the problem
does not only shows itself with the
Clintons. Unfortunately it goes far beyond
that family and their admirers.

(5,198 posts)we need a humanitarian in the WH, not another neo con. They have done enough damage. In the coming years this country needs more unity and to work on our infrastructure and green energy.
