(57,349 posts)VATICAN CITY/WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders was invited to speak at an April 15 Vatican event by the Vatican, a senior papal official said on Friday, denying a report that Sanders had invited himself.
"I deny that. It was not that way," Monsignor Marcelo Sanchez Sorondo told Reuters in a telephone interview while he was traveling in New York. Sorondo, a close aide to Pope Francis, is chancellor of the Pontifical Academy of Social Sciences, which is hosting the event.
He said it was his idea to invite Sanders.
A Bloomberg report quoted Margaret Archer, president of the Pontifical Academy of Social Sciences, as saying that Sanders had broken with protocol by failing to contact her office first.
"This is not true and she knows it. I invited him with her consensus," said Sorondo, who is senior to Archer.

And it fell flat. This is a lesson of take your lumps and move on. Instead, with the help of some in the MSM, they do this shit.
There is something else, the states that are coming up, including NY, have large catholic populations.

Now please delete your incorrect post and change that blasphemous image in your signature line.
Thanks.

This talking point of the day was a bad idea by whomever thought it up. Saying it over and over again after it has been proven false just makes it look even more of a bad idea.

Else You Are Mad
(3,040 posts)Are going with the 'repeat the lie loud and often enough to make it fact' strategy with this new smear. Here are the facts: the Vatican (the government that the Pope himself is the leader of) has come out and said that Sanders did not invite himself. Full stop. No amount of semantics are going to change that.
The reason I think Camp Hillary is fighting this one so hard is that Hillary is supposed to be the candidate that is respected world wide forward her foreign policies & this event has a few leaders of other nations going. That, combined with the fact that if this wins Sanders a portion of the large Catholic NYers, she is in trouble for the primary. Otherwise, they would have dropped it like the other lies they have been saying this week.
