2016 Postmortem

OK I admit that took me a while to type, what with all the laughter (does anyone remember laughter?).
Anyhow, a little theme music for Hillary's latest extravaganza of opulent flamboyance.

We should probably take some guesses - reading to children? Handing out sandwiches to the homeless?

I wonder how far $353K could go to support a shelter for that single dinner that many probably won't even finish for the sake of image.

(11,996 posts)"It will cost more than four times the average income in San Francisco to have dinner next to Hillary Clinton and the Clooneys there next month.
For two seats at the head table with Clinton, George Clooney and his wife, attorney Amal Clooney, at an April 15 fundraiser, a couple must contribute or raise a whopping $353,400 a huge ticket price for a hard-dollar fundraiser.
The Bay Area fundraiser, hosted at the home of venture capitalist Shervin Pishevar, is one of two events starring the Clooneys. On April 16, Clinton and the Clooneys will reunite at the Clooney Los Angeles mansion, where tickets cost $33,400 per person to dine at the table with one of Hollywoods most glamorous couples."
In context...
"U.S. presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders will head to the Vatican next week to take part in a small scholarly conference revisiting an encyclical from Pope John Paul II confronting economic issues."

(3,017 posts)I remember when they used to poll test potential vacations.
http://www.cbsnews.com/news/vacation-politics/
<"The Clintons turned vacations into a political exercise; let's poll and see where people think we should go," presidential historian Stephen Hess said.
The politics of presidential vacations was certainly taken to new heights when Dick Morris took a poll for Bill Clinton. The Clinton chief political adviser actually asked Americans where the president should rest up.
It revealed the obvious (as most polls do): that Americans would see another Clinton trip to Martha's Vineyard as too elitist. Instead, the First Family went to Jackson Hole, Wyo., where the president was photographed riding a horse and wearing a blue denim shirt, with a tan cowboy hat fitted squarely on his head, looking more Teddy Roosevelt than Franklin.
"The Clintons were in a unique position that few of our president's have been in. They weren't rich, they had to rely on the goodwill of strangers for their vacations," Hess continued. "While the Bushes and Heinz-Kerrys know exactly where to go on vacation.">
Now that the Clintons are rich and don't give a damn about what anybody else thinks, they summer in the Hamptons in $200,000 per month rentals with all the other A list politicians and celebrities.

(27,247 posts)I was among about 70 locals who had gathered outside at the very small municipal airport in Springdale to greet Hill and Bill in August 1993. When Bill got out of Air Force One (which pulled up to about 100 yards from where we were waiting), he came straight over to us and started shaking everyone's hand like he was still the governor. Hillary, however, acted like she'd rather be anywhere else.

George Clooney aids Obama campaign with Geneva fundraiser
(CBS/AP) George Clooney headlined a fundraiser Monday that took in more than a half-million dollars for President Barack Obama's re-election campaign, the second dinner this year where the actor has turned his A-list magnetism into political gold.
Clooney raised almost $15 million for Obama's campaign at Clooney's Los Angeles home in May. This time he turned to Geneva, the European hub of the United Nations and a global center for international organizations, governance and business, to pull in a more modest amount for the president's re-election effort.
Organizers said they had taken in at least $625,000 from U.S. donors for Obama's campaign, including many who were flying in to Geneva for the one-night event from around the world.
Americans Abroad for Obama, the event's sponsor, says on its website that guests are paying $15,000 per person to dine with Clooney, $5,000 for a photo with him and $1,000 to attend a reception before the dinner. About 30 people are attending the dinner, with at least 100 at the reception.
The event is co-hosted by Geneva-based American lawyer Charles C. Adams Jr. and Matthew Barzun, Mr. Obama's campaign finance chairman. The dinner is being held at Adams' home in an historic part of the city overlooking Lake Geneva, where Adams held a previous fundraiser for Mr. Obama in 2008.
Clooney was due to arrive in Geneva from the villa where he typically spends time during the summer on northern Italy's Lake Como. Obama campaign officials in Washington have declined to comment on the fundraiser.
The president has called the actor and director a good friend who tries to keep his distance so Mr. Obama won't be criticized for hanging out with Hollywood celebrities. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight earlier this month, Mr. Obama said he got to know Clooney through his work on Sudan when he was in the U.S. Senate.
The Democratic president and Republican challenger Mitt Romney have both been aggressively hunting for campaign money overseas, seeking any advantage in a tight race that's expected to stay that way into the fall.

Hillary is socially a member of the .01% and it shows, she shouldn't try to act like anything else since it just comes across as inauthentic.
