Suppose someone recklessy drove the economy into a ditch.

And then the tax-payers' tow truck pulls them out and refills their gas tank at tax payer expense.

Then when the cop gets there some conversation takes place, money goes from the crasher to the cop and nothing else happens. Cop allows them to drive away.

You ask the cop what was said and the cop says "I will tell you when everyone else tells you."

Why would that ever be an acceptable answer?

If the drivers are given a mandate in off year elections to continue driving into ditches and refuse to negotiate there's little the cop can do.
