Asked whether Garland would overturn the Citizens United campaign finance decision, a litmus test issue for the Vermont senator, White House press secretary Josh Earnest said President Obama did not ask Garland how he would rule in specific cases.
Obama has instead chosen to consider the jurisprudence of potential nominees," Earnest said, adding his approach to the law is consistent with what the framers of our Constitution intended.

This is a critical issue to me and where I part ways with the ACLU..who had
intense internal divisions over their response on the subject.

(1,511 posts)They voted a democrat in to office, and yet Obama is really trying to push a center right choice on us. Who knows Garland may be neutral with his choices, but it seems like Obama is playing chicken with the Senate...but he has been doing it so long not sure if he is actually serious about it now.

(11,366 posts)Garland is another pro-corporate flunky and we have no idea what he thinks about choice.
The fact that Hillary fans yell, "You have to vote for her for SCOTUS" is now off the table because if the best the Democrats can to is nominate a middle-of-the-road establishment toadie, then what's the point in voting for Hillary?
