The correspondence between Secretary Hillary Clinton and Sidney Blumenthal.

The purpose of this article is to shed a spotlight on the email correspondence between Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Sidney Blumenthal, a civilian, during her tenure as Secretary of State. Using https://wikileaks.org/clinton-emails/ and the search terms "Blumenthal confidential", 562 results appeared (this report lists only emails from the first 301 results). While, all the emails are marked "unclassified" they are also marked "confidential" and ostensibly paint a picture of utilizing Sidney Blumenthal as an intelligence source on various state matters.

This is problematic because while the emails were not classified, they show possible damning evidence of corresponding with Mr. Blumenthal, who was then employed by the Clinton Foundation, not the state department, and was not given proper security clearance to pass along sensitive intelligence to Secretary Clinton. In turn, he did not email her without response, she responded regarding these highly sensitive matters. Since, their correspondence is extensive, some emails will be referenced, that were and were not retroactively classified, to highlight her possible violation of state security rules.

Sidney Blumenthal (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sidney_Blumenthal):
Relationship to Secretary of State Clinton:

"After her January 2009 appointment as Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton wanted to hire Blumenthal. However, Obama's chief of staff, Rahm Emanuel, blocked his selection due to lingering anger among President Barack Obama's aides over Blumenthal's role in promoting negative stories about Obama during the Democratic primary. According to a report in the New York Times, "Emanuel talked with Mrs. Clinton ... and explained that bringing Mr. Blumenthal on board was a no-go. The bad blood among his colleagues was too deep, and the last thing the administration needed, he concluded, was dissension and drama in the ranks. In short, Mr. Blumenthal was out.

Blumenthal, a longtime confidant of Bill and Hillary Clinton, earned about $10,000 a month as a full-time employee of the Clinton Foundation. During the 2011 uprising in Libya against Muammar Gaddafi, Blumenthal prepared, from public and other sources, about 25 memos which he sent as emails to Clinton in 2011 and 2012, which she shared through her aide, Jake Sullivan, with senior State Department personnel...

The House Select Committee on Benghazi, headed by Representative Trey Gowdy (R-SC) served a subpoena on Blumenthal on May 19, 2015 for a deposition to be held on June 3, according to Reuters. Blumenthal's name came up during the October 22, 2015 full committee public questioning of Hillary Clinton regarding the Benghazi incident, as one of the alleged sources of Hillary Clinton's intelligence. During this hearing Democratic members asked that Blumenthal's deposition transcript be made public so that comments regarding his involvement could be placed in context. The motion was defeated by a voice vote, followed by a roll call vote along party lines."

These European officials are concerned that the ongoing conflict in Syria will lead to uprisings in these countries that will bring increasingly conservative Islamic regimes into power, replacing existing secular or moderate regimes. This individual adds that, Israeli security officials believe that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is convinced that these developments will leave them vulnerable, with only enemies on their borders."

Re: Iran, Saudi

"Had dinner last night (Tuesday, February 16) with Joschka Fischer. We had an interesting conversation on Iran and Saudi Arabia, among other things. (As you know Fischer is now director of the Nabucco pipeline project.) On Iran, harsh, targeted sanctions are absolutely necessary, but are most effective diplomatically when always coupled with an offer to negotiate.

The iron fist in the velvet glove approach achieves several objectives: According to Fischer's intelligence, Ahmanijehad wished some negotiated settlement but was blocked. The regime has splits at the top. Perhaps true, perhaps not. But constantly pushing negotiations alongside sanctions puts additional pressure on internal divisions, whatever they are. Extending an open hand while brandishing a stick closes diplomatic and political room to maneuver for Iran. Its refusal to accept the open hand justifies application of the stick. Even when sanctions are enforced it always remains useful to say another way is open. The damage done to Iran is therefore the result of its own choice. This approach also aids the opposition. A purely condign
sanctions strategy can contribute to the regime's will to punish and tighten repression. Talking of regime change, of course, undermines the cause of regime change. It is a gift to the regime. The opposition is a new factor in the Iran equation that must be taken into account on the political and moral level. Pushed to the wall, the regime may feel compelled to repress, which might involve thousands or tens of thousands of political killings. On Saudi Arabia, Fischer points out
that if Iran develops nuclear weaponry the Saudis already have their own bomb. The Saudis invested in Pakistan's nuclear weaponry partly for this eventuality; that's their bomb in reserve."

"The Wikileaks documents can be cast as reflecting a positive light on the U.S. government and diplomacy. Your statement about how the documents underscored the Iranian nuclear threat is headed in the right direction.

1. The Wikileaks disclosure is the opposite of the Pentagon Papers. The Pentagon Papers provided evidence from an internal study conducted by the Department of Defense that the U.S. administration was not telling the truth about the Vietnam War. On the contrary, the Wikileaks papers prove that the U.S. government today has been telling the truth about the threats we face in the world.

2. The Wikileaks papers prove that American diplomats are hard at work at the difficult, often frustrating job of protecting and advancing our interests in the world. These documents are testimony to the diligence, intelligence and clear mindedness of our diplomats. Our diplomats are doing their work on the frontline of national security."

These two emails pertains directly to the Petraeus Scandal, which relates to the ongoing FBI investigation, though they are looking into 30,000 emails not publicly released (those released are still of considerable impact):

"My operative theory on Petraeus scandal is that it became an October Surprise that failed. Forcing the scandal public and his resignation would have been the trifecta--leaks, Benghazi, then Petraeus-- allowing Romney to argue that Obama had created a national security collapse. It would have overtaken the end of the campaign.
My thought is that Leahy should be in this now and that Feinstein should be made aware, if she is not already, of the October Surprise scenario.

1. "I fully complied with every rule I was governed by."
2. "I did not email any classified material to anyone on my email. There is no classified material."
3. "I opted for convenience to use my personal email account, which was allowed by the State Department, because I thought it would be easier to carry just one device for my work and for my personal emails instead of two," she said. "Looking back, it would have been better if I'd simply used a second email account and carried a second phone, but at the time, this didn't seem like an issue."

And yes, it appears that most of Blumenthal's "intel" came from Tyler Drumheller, who served in the CIA for 25 years, until 2005. In some cases, Blumenthal simply forwarded emails from Drumheller, with Drumheller's name and email address still on them.

But there's a big gap between 2005 and 2011. Where did Drumheller get his info from?! Did he have a friend or two inside the intelligence agencies, giving him classified info? In at least some cases, it's clear the info came from the NSA, not the CIA.

We may never know, since Drumheller died of cancer in August 2015.

Sun Apr 17, 2016, 09:13 PM
Apr 2016

Furthermore Pres. Obama specifically BANNED Blumenthal from Hillary's State Dept.

Sidney Blumenthal has served in many roles for Bill and Hillary Clinton, from political Svengali to opposition hit man. So it was probably inevitable that the man who whispered to reporters that Monica Lewinsky threw herself on Bill Clinton

Mr. Blumenthal was on the payroll of the Clinton Foundation at the same time he was being paid by groups helping Mrs. Clinton’s presidential run, at the same time he was advising a U.S. business seeking Libyan contracts, at the same time he was secretly advising Secretary of State Clinton about Libya

They reinforce, for starters, that the Clinton Foundation is not and never has been a charity. Bill and Hillary created it in 2001 as a vehicle to assist their continuing political ambitions, in particular Mrs. Clinton’s run for the White House

The Blumenthal Files are the latest reminder that Mrs. Clinton’s email deletions deserve a criminal investigation. Recall that Mr. Blumenthal was barred by the Obama Administration from working at the State Department

http://www.wsj.com/articles/who-is-sid-blumenthal-1432077350

Clinton lauded Blumenthal's intelligence as 'best info yet'

"Best info yet. Let's discuss before you forward this morning," Clinton wrote as she sent one detailed, four-page report to one of her top aides, State Department Director of Policy Planning Jake Sullivan.

Clinton's team has tried to spin this story as much as possible. If Blumenthal had a security clearance at the time, I'm sure they would have mentioned it. For instance, they mentioned her lawyer David Kendall had one. The fact they haven't said that means you can be sure he didn't, and that's how the media has reported it.

When it came to Blumenthal, from the emails I've seen, it worked the opposite way. Blumenthal would email Hillary directly. Then, if she thought his email was interesting, she forwarded them to her staffers, especially Jake Sullivan, who was her foreign policy guy.

But in most other cases, info came to her through her staffers. It seems Sullivan wrote most of the really classified emails, so he has extra reason to worry.

Mon Apr 18, 2016, 01:33 AM
Apr 2016

She was cheerleading for a no-fly zone in Syria and also for arming the Syrian rebels.

This was after the killing/ousting of Gaddafi. Obama greenlighted Libya only after Hillary talked Obama into it.

After Libya, Obama appeared to very pointedly publicize that he would more cautious in his foreign-policy approach (you have to wonder if that was because he trusted Clinton and saw the entire Libyan situation blow up in his face).

Obama made the very public off-the-cuff remark about his foreign-policy going forward would be, "Don't do stupid s---."

Hillary's response to that was to do an interview with the Atlantic and express her disapproval.

"At one point, I mentioned the slogan President Obama recently coined to describe his foreign-policy doctrine: “Don’t do stupid shit” (an expression often rendered as “Don’t do stupid stuff” in less-than-private encounters). This is what Clinton said about Obama’s slogan: “Great nations need organizing principles, and ‘Don’t do stupid stuff’ is not an organizing principle.”
She softened the blow by noting that Obama was “trying to communicate to the American people that he’s not going to do something crazy,” but she repeatedly suggested that the U.S. sometimes appears to be withdrawing from the world stage.
http://www.theatlantic.com/international/archive/2014/08/hillary-clinton-failure-to-help-syrian-rebels-led-to-the-rise-of-isis/375832/

Obama has most recently said that his biggest foreign-policy regret is failing to follow up after Gaddafi was killed.

I don't mean to be off in the tall weeds here, but I find the dynamic between Hillary and Obama to be fascinating and more than a little bizarre. I think there is a great deal of PR that has been done to position these two as great friends and supporters of one another. I sense that the exact opposite is true.

"In June 2009, Clinton complained that she had twice shown up for meetings at the White House organized by Jones, the national security adviser, only to be told they had been canceled some time before.

“I arrived for the 10:15 mtg and was told there was no mtg,” Clinton wrote to her aides. “This is the second time this has happened. What’s up???”

Earlier that month, Clinton emailed her aides to say she’d heard “on the radio” there was a Cabinet meeting that day. “Is there? Can I go?” she asked.

The emails also show that aides kept Clinton informed when the White House highlighted Vice President Joe Biden’s role in Iraq policy in a way reporters interpreted to signal that Clinton might have been displaced.

Sullivan told an inquiring State spokesman that Clinton would “be back in Iraq before long.” He sent the exchange to Mills, who immediately passed it to the secretary.

“Read traffic all the way down,” Mills wrote. The bottom of the email chain consisted of White House spokesman Robert Gibbs’ comments that Biden would now “oversee” Iraq policy."

The FBI has the other 30,000 that she deleted. Ponder on that for a moment.

"Investigators with the FBI have recovered a trove of personal and work-related Hillary Clinton emails that had been thought to have been deleted and lost from a private computer server, one source familiar with the investigation tells NPR's Carrie Johnson.

The recovery might mean that those emails may one day become public.

Bloomberg, which first broke the news, reports that the FBI is in the midst of an investigation looking at how and why classified information moved on Clinton's private server."

The Watergate era shed so much light on so many things, and would have had an even greater effect had the Secret Government not set Jimmy Carer up for a major fall, via the stoppage of oil shipments and the hike in interest rates.

The Church hearings made people realize how bogus the activities of the CIA, that much of what they were doing to "save the republic from our enemies" was really about protecting the neo-colonialist proclivities of the Big Corporations. http://www.nytimes.com/2015/03/08/us/obama-says-he-didnt-know-hillary-clinton-was-using-private-email-address.html?_r=0

Can you imagine, finding out that Hillary was using a private email address and an unsecured server, and that she was corresponding with Blumenthal about foreign-policy on a regular basis?

Furthermore, Blumenthal was feeding her very sensitive (possibly classified) information on Libya. Meanwhile, unbeknownst to Obama--Blumenthal was working for the Clinton Foundation and leveraging business interests in Libya. Clinton lobbied heavily for action in Libya and is credited with convincing Obama that action should be taken in Libya and that the US should support those who wanted to take Gaddafi out.

It's possible that Clinton's reasons for wanting Gaddafi out, were the same reasons that Blumenthal did? The basic necon plan is to destabilize through war or regime change--then rebuild/opening business channels--all of which would benefit US corporate interests.

Is it possible that Obama feels duped? And that Clinton's rationale for Libyan regime change had less to do with her concern about Libyan oppression under Gaddafi and more about war-centric business plans that could only happen if Gaddafi was toppled?

Wikileaks Release Suggests Stratfor Inside Info Plan with Goldman Sachs Exec

WikiLeaks released more than 5 million e-mails Monday hacked from U.S.-based global intelligence firm Strategy Forecasting Inc. (Stratfor), revealing an alleged plan between the firm's CEO and a Goldman Sachs executive to set up an investment fund that would rely on inside information gathered by the company.

A September 2011 company-wide e-mail composed by Stratfor CEO George Friedman indicates that Goldman Sachs financial adviser and former Managing Director Shea Morenz was directly involved in the establishment of the investment fund StratCap.

"Shea Morenz provided us with two opportunities," wrote Friedman.

"First, he made an investment in Stratfor designed to give us the capital needed to build our staff and our marketing. Second, he proposed a new venture, StratCap, which would allow us to utilize the intelligence we were gathering about the world in a new but related venue -- an investment fund. Where we had previously advised other hedge funds. We would now have our own, itself fully funded by Shea."
