Citing lessons learned from online engagement with Bernie Bros, a pro-Hillary Clinton Super PAC is pledging to spend $1 million to push back against users on Twitter, Facebook, Reddit and Instagram.
Correct the Records Barrier Breakers project boasts in a press release that it has already addressed more than 5,000 people that have personally attacked Hillary Clinton on Twitter. The PAC released this on Thursday.
The PAC was created in May of last year when it was spun off from the American Bridge SuperPAC, which is run by longtime Hillary and Bill Clinton supporter David Brock. Brock also founded the left-wing media watchdog website Media Matters for America.
This explains why my inbox turned to cancer on Tuesday, wrote user OKarizee. Been a member of reddit for almost 4 years and never experienced anything like it. In fact, in all my years on the internet Ive never experienced anything like it.

I wonder if they are blowing up Skinner's inbox telling him to "Call It"
It is amazing how a "Democratic Campaign" has turned into controlling Free Speech and WHO gets to vote

Brock is as disgusting now as he was when he attacked Anita Hill.
The Clintons have a history of choosing disgusting people on their team.

(19,089 posts)They resemble the recent members who have joined DU ... They have NOTHING on in their profile ... No pictures, no friends ... Just a foul mouth ...
People are smarter than that .. they spot them right off in the Bernie Groups, and are usually blocked in minutes ....
Fuck'm ... I remember when they didn't even bother acknowledging Bernie even existed ... How things change ...
GO Bernie!

(24,411 posts)Their support is not organic. It's fake and paid for.
And "push back against" means mocking, negativity and narcissism while browbeating anyone who dares to post anything that isn't glowing about Hillary.
The internet is supposed to be a big conversation involving real people, not paid-for astroturfers pedaling Orwellian garbage and talking points.
They can't find authentic supporters who will stand up for her? They have to pay people?
LOL!

(9,086 posts)They control the TV. But the power structure is losing control of our information because we have the internet now. It's a threat. They need armies of sock puppets and paid trolls to set things straight.

(3,473 posts)you'd think Secretary Clinton was already fighting against the right wingnuts.
Is $1 million going to be enough to fight against this dishonesty?

(1,182 posts)PD used to be nice. Now it's basically the same as this forum--packed to the gills with spoiled winners and liars.
The coordination is obvious, too. Talking points pop up in here at the same time they pop up in there. Copy/paste duplicates aren't unusual.
The real Hillary supporters are pretty easy to spot though. They're the ones who aren't gigantic assholes.

nolawarlock

Either way, good on her if she can manipulate the flaws of web platforms like this. God knows the Bernie supporters have been doing it with the jury system all along.

(12,958 posts)Why does she have to buy 'loyalty' is she is so beloved?
nolawarlock
(1,729 posts)If she is paying people to correct misinformation, I see that as a different thing that having loyal voters. The paid person is going to have a better grasp of the information Hillary actually wants put out there, where a fan might get things wrong. I think both can play a roll. If I were running for office, I'd absolute want both loyal voters and paid operatives.

(882 posts)mentions the money she's received from speeches to wall street, corporate contributions to her campaign, even foreign policy decisions..
In other words, the factual observations, things that make up the legitimate argument that Bernie Sanders is no where near as embedded in a corrupt system as Clinton is, are personal attacks.
It's hard for Clinton to argue against those observations about how things work and how she's a part of it, so the Clinton pros turned those observations into criticisms and then into "personal attacks," and it worked. Watch the news channels whose employees now talk about nothing other than Bernie's "negative" attacks, and then see how it all filtered down to social media.
DU hasn't been talking about whether having a president that would be an unapologetic advocate for single payer health care would would be a good thing or not. The discussion has been dragged down to Bernie's "negativity" and "personal attacks" by the Clinton campaign, the media, and unfortunately here as well.
Give them the credit due, the Clinton campaign knows politics.

(14,689 posts)Most of them here just come up with the same old shit (Popegate, Tokengate). I don't see many Clinton supporters here extolling her virtues. Most of their contributions are anti-Sanders and not pro-Clinton. In fact, I suspect some of the more over the top Clinton fans are really just parodies created by supporters of Sen. Sanders.
