2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumIf either Team Hillary or Team Bernie
doesn't have 2026 pledged delegates before the convention (they won't), should she/he suspend their campaign to unify the party? I didn't think so either...

(31,170 posts)Once Hillary reaches 2026, there is no way Bernie could surpass her with any combination of pledged or super delegates remaining.

(18,115 posts)This is all theoretical, but your math is wrong.
There are 714 supers.
2,383 - 714 = 1,669.
Hillary could take up to 2,382 pledged delegates, leaving Bernie with as few as 1,669 and there would be enough supers to give it to Bernie.

(1,729 posts)I stopped looking at these specific formulas weeks ago. I have a general sense that Bernie isn't going to win but will probably snag something of import out of this, whether it be cabinet or platform or what have you.

(482 posts)it seems (to me) a call for anyone to concede, is at best premature...for whatever reason.

(1,729 posts)If he wants to stay in for the experience and isn't ready to sachet away, then by all means, he should stick around. I don't think it matters at this point. Hillary will beat Trump.

(482 posts)be contested...so why would a "party unification" suspension be called for by either campaign?
