I could see him doing it. I don;t think he would have the expectation to win, but he is a spiteful bastard and would do it just for revenge.

It is still possible for a spoiler third party to run in a select 5-10 swing states. I'm not seeing it though.

I was surprised to learn that only two states; South Dakota and Texas, had "Sore Loser" laws that prevent failed party presidential candidates from running as independents.

...by the time the Conventions are done a number of State petition deadlines will have passed.

I expect Jill Stein to do very well (in comparison to the usual Green numbers) if Hillary wins the nomination, as that's who a lot of Bernie supporters unwilling to vote for her will pick. But I don't see any third party, estqablished or newly-minted, having much of an effect this November.

The possible exception would be if Trump gets hosed at the GOP convention after coming in with a majority of delegates. He coudl be just pissed off enough to run, even though he couldn't get on the ballot in a lot of states He'd throw those he couldn't get on to the Democrat.
