(24,119 posts)lots of experience and stature among some (I think he is slime) and from Georgia a state possibly in play because Trump is the nominee, specially if Clinton runs against him
That thanks for reminding me. I think some of the even slime balls will not run with him. They got too much class so they think.

(8,352 posts)Latino, female, governor of New Mexico and a very smart choice for him as he pivots to the more moderate middle of the political spectrum for the GE.

(135,425 posts)According to a recent New York Times article, Martinez said at a recent gathering she does not want to be associated with his sometimes angry tone.
Her office responded Wednesday saying the governor has repeatedly said shes isnt interested in service as Vice President but she appreciates that such attention puts New Mexico in the spotlight and will continue to be fully committed to the people of our state.

(6,282 posts)(2) should help the GOP with Clinton's FBI woes if we are stupid enough to nominate her.
TM99
(8,352 posts)She is pretty squeaky clean and would tear about Clinton on the server issues.
She would also pull Latino votes and women votes. Many will try to argue here that all Latino's and women are smarter than this but that is ludicrous. American voters in general are easily swayed by images, propaganda, and persona management.

(6,282 posts)Obviously you don't quickly assent to the VP rumors. Like Paul Ryan with the speakership, you let the rumors build on themselves.
Martinez should first ask to see what the candidate can do for her state (check) and then enthusiastically endorse after allowing Trump to rehabilitate himself on Latino issues (as if that is remotely possible, but remember, cable news will quickly forgive him) and expound on immigration (still to come).
Then the VP pick will be announced. Maybe around the time of the California primary.
TM99
(8,352 posts)it is that he is quite capable of persona management.
He will moderate himself now that he is the presumptive. I predict the VP announce will be just prior to CA. If can pick up minority votes there even beyond his standard base, that sends a clear message to the Democrats that he is a very viable GE candidate.
Will they pay attention? Not like as the hubris is strong with Clinton and her supporters. It is like a fucking Greek tragedy watching them deny realities around them just to stay focused on her as the inevitable one.

(11,945 posts)was mentioned on Thom Hartmann. Trump said he wanted a professional politician; she's a U.S. senator and former NH attorney general. Practiced law before going into politics. She's relatively young, attractive, "centrist" Republican with somewhat enlightened views on climate change. She's pro-gun and anti-choice. Mitt Romney considered her for a running mate and she's considered an up and comer in the Republican Party. Every time I've heard her speak I've disliked her.
TM99
(8,352 posts)Either Ayotte or Martinez would both be solid choices for Trump and would be pretty hard to counter from Clinton.

Edited to add: also, they HATE him in PA. So it's not like he'd bring the state along with him.

(10,241 posts)...privately or publically count themselves out. Ben Carson would agree, I think. ... but he would not get many Black voters for Trump. Black voters are not stupid. Sarah Palin would agree, too. She loves cameras and microphones, but Female voters are not stupid, either...
Trump will likely pick an "establishment" Republican geared to ease fears about his experience.

(80,708 posts)But I suspect he'll try to do something downright weird, that no one expects.
