1968, all over again, guaranteed. Some here need to educate themselves.

In the end, the Democratic Party nominated Humphrey. Even though 80 percent of the primary voters had been for anti-war candidates, the delegates had defeated the peace plank by 1,567¾ to 1,041¼.[10] The loss was perceived to be the result of President Johnson and Chicago Mayor Richard Daley influencing behind the scenes.[10] Humphrey, who had not entered any of 13 state primary elections, won the Democratic nomination, and went on to lose the election to the Republican Richard Nixon.[11]

Final Ballot[edit]

Guess what happened next...

REGARDLESS of which side feels or IS cheated in the convention, if the result is a repeat of this, and that sick motherfucker Drumpf takes the WH...you will ALL be VERY sorry.

support overall for the Dem party will be diminished.

BTW, they will get help causing a mess from Pro Hillary folks like Barney Frank, he is a bad choice to lead this given his recent statements on BErnie

Humphrey won on the first ballot.

His strategy was to rely on "favorite son" candidates in big-state primaries. Those stand-ins all announced Humphrey as their choice on the very first ballot.

Eugene McCarthy never united behind the nominee, and his followers drew 6,000 federal troops and 18,000 National Guard reservists to try to keep the peace at their "protests" in Grant Park.

(who I like) to chair the convention when he has been the most vocal critic of Bernie.

Do they?

Cant they show some level of cooperation?

and maybe the point should be that the repression at the convention wasn't a very good idea. If Humphrey had not tried to squelch the protesters, and had gone anti-war as they wanted, he most likely would have won because Nixon masqueraded as the "peace candidate" of all things, and that's how he won.

That's if anybody gives a damn about not making the same mistake, which I very much doubt. Those who don't learn from the past... (you know the rest).

when the protesters and reporters were being beaten by the cops. I mean most of them showed up and voted for Hubert but they all knew that night Nixon was going to win. They were furious with the Party and with the Mayor of Chicago.
