Wonder how much of that is going on now.

(1,947 posts)Hillary courted Jeb Bush , Marco Rubio, and Ted Cruz mega donors. So yup it's going on, but not by the progressive candidate of the democratic party, but by the right leaning candidate of the democratic party.

(9,136 posts)I'm wondering the same thing. After watching what the Rethugs did to Bill Clinton and what many of them tried to do to President Obsma, I would not be the slightest bit surprised to see right-wing operatives hard at work for the hard-right propaganda organs and the Republican Party masquerading as just another one of Bernie's fan-boys or just another one of Bernie's fan-girls.

That's how the GOP would see it.

There will never again be a good reason for Democratic presidential candidates to blur the differences between themselves and the Republican candidates, and especially not to the massive degree Bill did in '92 and '96(something she never publicly questioned).

(9,136 posts)You're missing something. I don't doubt that many Sanders voters are motivated by a genuine and understandable anger at the default kleptocratic policies this country has been operating under more often than not since 1995. But I strongly believe that a lot of the current rancor is being artificially stoked by right-wing moles pretending to be Sanders supporters.
If it makes you feel better, I suspect that there are other R/W moles pretending to be Clinton supporters.
What's in it for right-wingers and Republicans to promote the Sanders vs Clinton feud?
A weakened and divided Democratic Party that would boost the chances of Trump and boost the chances of the Republicans keeping the US Senate and probably the House, too

(50,254 posts)It is nearly impossible for a candidate to vet her or his online supporters.
My objection to the OP was that it seemed to be yet another argument that Bernie's campaign is illegitimate and should never have happened.

(145,794 posts)For some funny reason, Karl Rove funded Nader in 2000 http://www.huffingtonpost.com/eric-zuesse/ralph-nader-was-indispens_b_4235065.html
This is from the GOP bag of dirty tricks that worked once and Rove has been running attack ads against Clinton but not Sanders. Again the GOP knows which candidate is the weakest general election candidate

(757 posts)Nader wasn't running against Bush too?
arely staircase
(12,482 posts)You really believe that? Well they weren't. They were financing a left third party to specifically go after the Democratic Candidate.
Any money that GOP donors are giving to Clinton is so she can defeat Trump.
Then in the next cycle it will be her against the people that helped her beat Trump.
