Snopes weighs in on Camp Clinton's chair throwing claim. Conclusion? UNPROVEN.

CLAIM: Angry Bernie Sanders supporters threw chairs during an adversarial Nevada Democrat convention in May 2016.

UNPROVEN

WHAT'S TRUE: Video captured during the Nevada Democrats' convention depicts a man briefly picking up a chair before placing it back down without throwing it.

WHAT'S FALSE: Despite extensive YouTube, Periscope, and photographic documentation captured by supporters of both Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders, no available images document anyone's throwing chairs at the Nevada convention.

6. Just as the Clinton camp said nothing DIRECTLY about the 'disqualify him, defeat him' campaign they

will let the corporate media do the work, they sit back and say 'we never said that.'

But they do not come out and denounce the lies that are being told by the media as they are beneficial to their campaign and maybe the campaign has suggested/planted ideas as Jeff Zeleny reported.

Funny thing, nobody ever went back to Jeff Zeleny, a senior political analyst at CNN, and asked him who in the Clinton campaign told him of this new Clinton campaign strategy, and now he is covering the Sanders campaign?

Who is this Clinton aide that gave Jeff the "breaking news" which the media picked up and said Clinton wants to disqualify Sanders to which he responded?

Either someone is feeding false info to the corporate media and trying to make their opponent look bad or reporters are making stuff up.

But if reporters are making false accusations the Clinton campaign has done nothing to stop it, then I must ask where is their integrity? The disqualify, defeat strategy was such a blatant example and Clinton did nothing!

So yes I will agree that the Clinton campaign said nothing about this particular instance, they just let it all play out and hope that people do not notice the deception, just as they did with the disqualify, defeat campaign.

And she wants my vote?

7. And remember that was on the evening of his important WI win... Seeing a pattern here?

Huge attack on Bernie around calling her "unqualified" sucked all the air out of the room about the win. Seemed pre planned and timed just right along with the headline. Big false sexist smear.

This time, ridiculously close loss in KY and win in OR and my, my, another debacle that sure as hell seems staged for another smearing of Bernie's camp, again sucking the air out of the room about OR. Boxer was taunting Bernie's supporters. The vote started before the scheduled start time with people still in line. So many of his delegates de-credentialed. Obvious disregard of fair procedures. You can't make this stuff up!

There was another one of these, same type of pattern but I'm so tired now I'm not recalling it...

12. Exactly, controversy and distraction, the media ran with Clinton seeks to disqualify Sanders

and the Clinton campaign said nothing, in fact her surrogates were doing exactly that.

When Sanders responded the media only played partial clips of his statement as they did with the 'tired of hearing about the damn email quote.'

Boxer, like the Dem establishment, has no clue as to how frustrated the shrinking middle class is feeling and I agree she was taunting them in the videos I saw. Registration was until 10 but they started early.

Van Jones made a very astute comment in this video, he states the difference between 2008 and now is that the rebels were winning and this time the rebels are not.

Rebels do not conform so easily, this will be interesting. I do feel the Dem party is miscalculating the needs of the majority of people, the need for food, HC, a stable environment with a roof over their heads and maybe most importantly hope for the future and a better life.

There are so many instances of how the corporate media shapes our views, but as I am told by my 25 year son, none of his generation has cable and pays attention to what they say. Why bother, it is just all noise.

...you're quibbling about whether it was thrown and ignoring the deliberate and orchestrated attempt by Sanders supporters to hijack that convention to try and use party officials to overturn the will of NV voters in the Feb. election.

Sad that you think this 'proof' settles anything. It just highlights your indifference to the bullying and intimidation tactics; behavior which has been both implied and promised by Sanders supporters to be on the bill for our national convention.

You know, I know, and everyone else knows that one would be considered violence, while the other would not. And that is exactly why the inaccurate and distorted version is being pushed.

The burden of proof is on the party making the claim. As Snopes has correctly concluded, there is no proof that any chair was ever thrown.

There is definitely someone dissembling here, but it isn't me.

See the other guy's hand on his arm? He's trying to calm him down. It worked. He handed the chair to someone else who set it down. Then they all hugged. No chairs were ever thrown.

Until you can show a video of that chair flying through the air, you've got nothing.

NOTHING. But your wishes that it had really happened so you could somehow blame it on Bernie.

From Snopes:
WHAT'S TRUE: Video captured during the Nevada Democrats' convention depicts a man briefly picking up a chair before placing it back down without throwing it.

38. Clinton WON Nevada in Feb., not Sanders. His convention fans had a perverse notion of democracy

...Sanders supporters tried to intimidate and manipulate party insiders to steal Clinton delegates, to use establishment insiders to reverse the results of that election; much like they plan to do with superdelegates at the national convention.

Fortunately they failed and the results of the NV convention matched the will of NV voters.

50. What's unacceptable behavior is for the chair of the Nevada democratic party to call a vote

at 9:30am when the convention was scheduled to begin at 10:00am. What's unacceptable is for the chair to pass new rules based on a voice vote that clearly went to the "nays." It's unacceptable to pick up a chair and then set it back down at the end of convention that Lange suddenly adjourned right after a motion had been called? Come on. As you know, the lie that Bernie Sanders supporters threw chairs (multiple chairs) at the end of the convention was all over the mainstream media for an extended period of time. I'm surprised that anyone can find that acceptable.

31. The Chair Thrown 'Round the World

http://www.snopes.com/did-sanders-supporters-throw-chairs-at-nevada-democratic-convention/

Violence, chairs thrown, but not one person arrested at the convention.

Over a million people have to see Sanders without ONE arrest.

This is another made up story of people behind the Clinton campaign, of course the campaign would not say so Directly, they leave that to surrogates and the corporate media.

With all the unscrupulous stories that have been posted here by Clinton supporters and in the media, not to mention her record of poor judgement, is there a reason to vote FOR her? Many people are not finding a reason, in a new CBS poll today she now has the same unfavorable rating as does Trump.

Wonderful, the Dem party has put forward and championed a person who is not trustworthy and who is under investigation by the FBI for a very stupid, shall we say another example of poor judgement, in using an unsecure server.

The numerous mistakes, poor decisions that cost hundreds of thousands of lives and displaced millions and which led to the current instability across the world do give people pause, much more so then someone raising a chair during a state convention.

"Unproven.

45. Excuse me, but were you not the poster who jumped into the Snopes thread which stated

that chairs were thrown at the Nevada convention as being Unproven with three pictures of a chair in the air?

The media has had a field day with the "violence" displayed by Sanders supporters, DWS and Boxer all over the news, numerous posts here on DU about the violent protests in Nevada.

Although you took the time to post three nearly identical shots of a chair in the air you call me pathetic for calling you out?

Do you know what I find pathetic? I find it pathetic that parents cannot take their kids to the doctor because it costs too much money, not to mention they cannot go to the doctors themselves because of high deductibles and high out of the pocket maximums. People should check the out of pocket maximums, not just the deductibles. First year ours was $11,500, since then $8,500 per year, do that times 7 and not sure how many people could sustain that assault. Combine loss of income and you have a recipe for bankruptcy.

I find it pathetic that the middle class has been shrinking for decades while establishment politicians espouse unfair trade bills to ship jobs overseas, I find it pathetic that politicians side with big moneyed interests to deregulate banking laws that benefit the rich.

Clinton is so out of touch with the needs of people, our country will survive when the Majority of people do well, but none of the Clinton policies has done anything to sustain the majority of people. The middle class has been shrinking for decades, yes even while Bill was in office and Hillary backed his ideas. And the surplus Bill created by borrowing from the SS Trust fund can be looked at if you turn a blind eye as to the jobs that were leaving our country.

So yes I agree, I could care less about the chair throwing, it is emblematic of the problems of the corporate media and how our elections favor those in power.

Old saying, the rich get richer and the poor get poorer.

The "violence" and chair throwing at the convention is just another made up story to discredit Sanders, as you say, there is no proof, but the corporate has had a field day.

It is shame, and also an indication of our priorities, that attention is not being paid to the suffering of millions of people as they are dismissed by establishment politicians and their supporters.

55. The guy who picked up the chair was simply offering it to a woman.

Such a gentleman.

56. Was lifting a chair "gentlemanly?" Maybe not.

Was it "violence?" Not in this universe.

66. Was it violence?

He was standing in a group of Bernie supporters, and crying. He was extremely upset with what just happened...the illegal actions of Lange, the absolute destruction of democratic process, ruining all the work he'd put into the campaign effort, and there was nobody near him he could have even thrown the chair at, much less tried to swing and hit someone (unless he wanted to attack his own team)...so was that violence?

What about the guy (Wendell Pierce) who grabbed a woman by her hair and hit her in the head...he was arrested for it. A Hillary supporter pissed that a woman dared to support Bernie.

Which one was violence?

The amazing thing to me is that once you guys (Hill camp) get an idea in your head, even without proof, you are so quick to condemn Bernie and his supporters...and then when the proof comes out that the meme is false, you need it so much you still cannot let go.

Talk about ugly and vengeful behavior.

69. "the illegal actions of Lange" ... ummm, no.

That's a fantasy created by fevered minds.

And the Wendell Pierce incident should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law ... and yet it has nothing to do with the ridiculous behavior of a small number of irrational Bernie supporters in NV.

Tell you what ... lets say I'll spot you 2 extra NV delegates.

Is Bernie winning now?

73. It's on video that Lange did not follow convention rules.

She took over and ran it like a dictator. Ignoring motions made and seconded and did a voice vote without even waiting for the nays before calling it for the yeahs, and then closing the convention...all illegal according to convention rules.

You are the one who is living in a fantasy world.

Everyone knows this was wrong and it set off some very dedicated people to start shouting and that's what you call violence.

I did notice, btw, how you avoided that. No violence. Zip Nada!

67. NPR ombudsman has also written about the "chair-throwing" claim

and came to the same conclusion as Snopes -- that there is no evidence it ever happened.

68. I use to think only Fox News pulled this type of blatant dishonesty.

The oligarchy has clearly decided it is time to exert its power in the DNC and all the Time Warner News programs.

72. Don't expect much more from the diverse wing of the conservative party

They are just like the other ones but with more variety.

Except even Darth Cheney accepted gay marriage quicker.
