Just got a Knock on my door from some Lady and little kid

Seems like they are going door to door asking people to vote for Tommy Tompson. When I opened my door I said Im voting to Obama and Tammy Baldwin and shut the door on their faces.

I wish Obama people would knock on my door.

candidate. Remember every minute she spends with you is one less minute she might be talking to someone persuadable.
I use the same tactic with sales calls. They work on commission. the longer they talk to me the less money they end up making.

OTOH your response was appropriate.

If you start talking to Repukes in Uranus, it may be time to seek help.

Keeping the telemarketer on the phone is actually nice because their jobs are monotonous, and it's difficult getting hung up on, yelled at, time and again. I'm certain you're amicable to the sales person -- because it's simply cruel to treat someone miserably. Especially someone who finds him or herself in a position where they're forced to make sales calls for a living.

Phone rings. I answer. Young lady wants to know if I answer a survey question.
I say, “Ok”
She says, “I’m with Americans for Prosperity—“
“Are there Americans against Prosperity?”
I forget her response.
“I thought prosperity was just around the corner.”
Prolonged silence.
“Go ahead”
“Four years ago Obama—“
I cut her off. “So, you’re working for the BAINO’s , billionaire Americans in Name Only. (voice rising) The people who want to take away your vote, After the Night of Terror in 1917 when 33 women picketed the White House and were brutally beaten for your right to vote (voice rising still), you’re going to let these BAINOs extort your vote from you?”
“Google it, google Night of Terror,” I say, my voice rising to a crescendo, “ and then call someone else and tell them to vote for these Billionaire Americans in Name Only, BAINOS”
“Any other questions ?” I ask, voice calm and reasoned.
“Have a nice day,” she says.

Slamming a door in a child's face or anyone's face really doesn't reflect well on our campaign.

It's hard, but honest, campaigning. It takes more to put oneself forward in this way, as opposed to just airing commercials or making robocalls. And indeed, I've been threatened with a shotgun. I admire that woman, not you.

Just canvassed for 4 hours, and appreciated people simply smiling and saying "we're voting" or even "that's private" - just not slamming doors or yelling through the glass "take us off the list and don't come back!"

I did have one guy smacking his chops hoping I'd stop at his house (they don't know we work off of lists of Dems only). When I walked right by with just a nod he said "who you canvassing for?" (as if the 2 Obama buttons and Obama bag weren't a clue).
"Obama"
"You don't even want to know what I think about him."
"You're right! I don't!" and I laughed and kept walking.

Most everyone else was pretty decent, though, even though they may not be voting Obama (although 95% were).
