Hillary Clinton’s Emails Are a Threat to Life as We Know it

A humorous and cynical commentary on the OIG email "reporting."

Source: Mediaite, Tommy Christopher

Any glance at most political websites today, you might think:

If the past two days have taught us anything, it is that Hillary Clinton‘s use of a personal email server during her tenure at the State Department is a threat to the American way, and even to all human life on Earth. The media’s sirens-a-blaring reaction to the State Department Office of the Inspector General’s report on email practices would lead any rational observer to conclude that the only crime greater than using personal email to conduct State business is the crime of ever believing a word that Hillary Clinton says.

Personal email not "allowed?" The "big lie?"

Page 37 of the report does say that “OIG found no evidence that the Secretary requested or obtained guidance or approval to conduct official business via a personal email account on her private server,” but then again, Secretary Clinton isn’t saying that she requested or obtained guidance or approval. She’s saying it was “allowed,” an assertion that is backed up by many instances in the report which recognize that personal email use, while generally discouraged, is permitted, as per a 2009 regulation which states “Agencies that allow employees to send and receive official electronic mail messages using a system not operated by the agency must ensure that Federal records sent or received on such systems are preserved in the appropriate agency recordkeeping system,” and which is repeatedly cited in the report.

As the OIG report also states on page 5, it wasn’t until after Hillary Clinton left the State Department that personal email use was prohibited, and even then, not completely.

Hillary didn't want to or attempt to retain her records?

This didn’t quite work out because, as the unreported main focus of the report makes clear, the State Department system is a hot-assed mess. If it weren’t, then none of this would be happening, because they’d be able to sort and retrieve emails the way any Gmail user can. But since I’m a reasonable person who doesn’t hate Hillary Clinton and isn’t trying to justify swallowing a year-and-a-half worth of Republican leaks like some kind of journalistic Linda Lovelace, it makes sense to me that a person would think “Hey, if I send an email to someone with a dot-gov email address, they’ll be able to find it if they need it.”

hence his impeachment. He had a trial prior to impeachment, in that trial...

he was convicted of covering up a situation that wasn't a crime.

his affair..was not illegal. his cover-up (lying to investigators) of affair was a crime.

Yes, not having a separate private email server while you are SoS or any where in the government is common sense if not the rules.

Between the real story and all the fake stories she told about the real story, plus all her other baggage, Republicans will have quite a lot to keep them busy.

and Honduras because she was able to use classified info and weapons sales through her server under no scrutiny whatsoever. Using a banned Blumenthal re Libya with the lies and deliberate misinfo to take to the UN. She persuaded an ambivalent Obama for that 51-49 vote to intervene in yet another sovereign nation even after seeing the disaster of Iraq and knowing full fucking well what would happen. Your life didn't change ......... many others were lost and ruined. Millions. But 'those people' don't count. They never have.

She used that very private server, away from the scrutiny of Obama, to use false intelligence from the banned Blumenthal - and persuaded Obama, against his ambivalence to it - to intervene in a sovereign nation, destroying the lives of millions of people in the whole region as a result. Had she not had that 'intelligence' from her adviser 'keep em coming (by email) Blumenthal' (being paid through her Foundation), she wouldn't have had the leverage she did to get Obama on board. 'An early Christmas present! when Obama agreed (according to another uncovered email).

Obama said Libya was his greatest regret.

23. It is a threat to some of the undercover CIA agents who were named in her emails.

Discussions with Intelligence Community officials have revealed that Ms. Clinton’s “unclassified” emails included Holy Grail items of American espionage such as the true names of Central Intelligence Agency intelligence officers serving overseas under cover. Worse, some of those exposed are serving under non-official cover. NOCs (see this for an explanation of their important role in espionage) are the pointy end of the CIA spear and they are always at risk of exposure – which is what Ms. Clinton’s emails have done.

Not only have these spies had their lives put in serious risk by this, it’s a clear violation of Federal law. The Intelligence Identities Protection Act of 1982, enacted due to the murder of the CIA’s station chief in Athens after his cover was blown by the left-wing media, makes it a Federal crime to divulge the true identity of any covert operative serving U.S. intelligence if that person has not previous been publicly acknowledged to be working for our spy agencies.

People really go to jail for breaking this law. John Kiriakou, a former CIA officer, recently emerged from two years in prison for unauthorized disclosure of classified information, including exposing the identity of an Agency colleague who was serving under cover.

Anyone possessing political memory will recall that this law was also the centerpiece of the 2003 scandal surrounding Valerie Plame, a CIA NOC officer whose identity appeared in the media after it was exposed by the George W. Bush White House. Ms. Plame became a liberal icon of sorts, complete with high glamour, while the affair became an obsession for much of the mainstream media, despite the fact that the spy was physically unharmed by the leak.

38. The 'Observer' article sources Fox News.

Today FoxNews has reported that those twenty-two Top Secret emails included “operational intelligence” that involves espionage sources and methods, adding that lives have been put at risk by Hillary’s mishandling of this information.

I can confirm that the FoxNews report, which lacks any specifics about exactly what was compromised, is accurate. And what was actually in those Top Secret emails found on Hillary’s “unclassified” personal bathroom server was colossally damaging to our national security and has put lives at risk.

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2016/02/01/official-withheld-clinton-emails-contain-operational-intel-put-lives-at-risk.html

Fox News is a tool of the rightwing media machine. Not a credible source.

59. Yep, Pretty much all of the 'she will be indicted' stories are sourced from Fox News

As you rightly point out about the 'Observer' article.

They base everthing on what "Fox News" or a "Fox News Expert (aka GOP hack)" reported.

65. Everytime I bump into Fox News...

someone is on their way with handcuffs to take Hillary away!

For 20 years now? I guess I can understand how frustrating that would be!

But our side doing it?

27. They're desperate. The voters chose her over their candidate. They will convince themselves

of anything to justify ignoring the will of the voters. They will fail.

53. Hillary didn't want to or attempt to retain her records?

And, as many people (and the report) have observed, people using personal e-mail systems were expected to save HARD COPIES of all their e-mails. This is so absurd that the OIG report tells us that state department employees were reluctant to pass this "rule" on to new employees. It was an "antiquated" (OIG) system that she was wrestling with, as did other SOSs and employees. Unfortunately, as is so often the case with Hillary smears, the truth is complicated, and we have an overload of citizens who just can't handle complex.

Fortunately, Hillary can. That's one big reason I'm EXCITED at the prospect of her becoming our next president.

And some are happy, THRILLED to post that imbecile's rantings on a Dem board without even the first clue or sense of awareness that they are LITERALLY carrying water for Republicans.

58. So did that bastion of truth, Jonah Goldberg!

Happily, that one didn't last long w the jury.

Amazing how the most obvious partisan professional liars get posted here as "truth-tellers."

And then I"m the bad guy when I point out these liars have been lying for the GOP forever.

God forbid if I should ever "attack the messager" just because the fucking liar has been lying to me for years.
